Another visually attractive layout, with small rocky mountains as a backdrop, and not as easy as it may look at first glance, especially on the back 9, with quite a few greens, set next to lakes of various sizes and shapes. After two par-4 dogleg holes to start with, bending to the right and slightly downhill all the way (1st), and turning left (uphill all the way, and with a lake to avoid on your approach toward the green, on the 2nd), you will face the pretty par-3 3rd, with a tee shot over part of an elongated lake landing onto a green, set to the water (on the left). On the dogleg right par-5 4th hole, you will need to hit a downhill tee shot, followed by a long and challenging second shot toward the green, while making sure to avoid a tiny stream crossing the fairway, not too far in front (not to mention a big bunker set in front of the flag). Then, after two more doglegs (left par-4 5th, right par-4 6th), the last three holes are nice, starting with the very scenic par-4 7th, with a tee shot landing next to a couple of trees, planted midway on the bank of an elongated lake (on the left) and big bunkers (on the right), and a green, surrounded by three bunkers, and continuing with the beautiful par-3 8th, with a tee shot above a lake landing onto a wide green, and the nice and straight par-5 9th, along a big lake (on the left), with a downhill tee shot and a long second shot toward the green, set next to the water. The back 9 has plenty of water holes and some tricky approaches with water often near the greens, making you think twice before hitting your shots, as you will find out with the nice par-3 12th, with a tee shot over a big lake (but the green is quite wide), and the wide open par-5 13th, with a second shot over a big lake needed to reach the green. Fortunately, you should have an eagle opportunity on the dogleg left par-5 15th hole, with an elongated lake, midway in the inner corner to watch for, and a green, reachable after a long approach, before moving on to the dogleg left par-4 16th, downhill all the way and with a tough second shot toward the green, set on the edge of a wide lake (on the left), and the par-3 17th hole, quite pretty with a tee shot flying above a sandy area forming a loop around some deep rough. With nice trees all around, slight elevation changes and fairways, narrow at times, this par 72 is quite enjoyable and challenging with plenty of water hazards, thanks to rlslay’s nice design and imagination.
