Using only 4 libraries, this par 72 is quite pretty to look at with its lake panorama, and is quite challenging with plenty of downhill holes with water hazards to watch for and quite a few bunkers surrounding the greens. On the front 9, my favorite holes are the long and downhill par-3 3rd, with seven small bunkers surrounding the green (in a horseshoe shape), the dogleg right par-4 5th, downhill all the way and with a narrow fairway and six more bunkers around the green, and the dogleg left par-4 6th, with a downhill tee shot landing next to a wide lake, midway (on the right). The dogleg right par-5 7th is another tough hole, with a downhill tee shot landing onto a narrow fairway, with four bunkers (midway, on both sides) and a very long second shot if you want to try to reach the green (surrounded by three wide bunkers), unlike the easier but nice dogleg left par-4 9th, with a second shot over a small lake needed to land onto the green. The back 9 is prettier and more challenging, with plenty of water to deal with, such as on the straight and downhill par-4 10th hole, with an approach over a small stream (in front of the green) flowing out into a small lake (to the left), or the dogleg right par-5 11th, with an undulating fairway hugging a serpentine stream along trees (on the right) running all the way to the front and past the green (on the left), hard to reach on your second shot. If the dogleg par-4 12th hole is quite pretty, bending sharply to the right, around a wide lake, midway (and with a tiny island in the middle), just like the par-3 14th, with its tee shot over a big lake, the most difficult hole is the very long (more than 630 yards) and scenic par-5 15th, with a tee shot landing next to a wide lake (on the right), followed by a second shot to get close to the green, only reachable after a third and short shot. Last, but not least, the beautiful par-4 18th hole will challenge you, with a tee shot flying three times over a stream, and landing next to a small elongated lake, midway (on the left), and a second shot along that serpentine stream (on the right) to reach the green. Overall, with this Paradise Lake GC, rlslay designed a pretty layout that will keep you on your toes (or wet toes if you are not careful), even though it has a more “traditional” look that some of his other courses, often filled with lots of trees, flowers and bushes...
