A nice panorama with tall skyscrapers (even though they are all brown !), surrounded by water, sand dunes and beautiful plantings, offering spectacular views as you tee off from every hole, and challenging too, with plenty of water hazards and a few putts, hard to read, with small mounds near the flags. On the front 9, my favorite holes are the scenic dogleg right par-4 2nd, with a gorgeous view of the city skyline as you tee off and two lakes, a few yards apart (on the left), with an approach to the green, over the second one, and the long par-5 4th, downhill all the way and with a river (on the right), winding its way in front of the green, then to the right again, and over which you will have to decide if you want to gamble and try to reach the green on your second shot or play it safe and land it on the small fairway (to the right). I also like the par-3 5th hole, with a tee shot over part of a wide lake to reach the green, and the tough dogleg right par-4 6th, with a very narrow undulating fairway, set between bunkers (on the left) and a huge lake (on the right), making your tee shot quite tricky if you want to have a clear shot at the green, far away. The par-5 8th is another noteworthy hole, with its undulating fairway along two big lakes (on the left), and a view of the sand dunes far away, and a delicate approach toward the green, guarded by a big bunker in front and the lake (on the left), just like the very scenic par-4 9th, with big bunkers all along (on the left) and a beautiful island green (with high-rise buildings far away). The back 9 is not to be overlooked either, as you will find out with the pretty and tough par-4 10th hole, with a tee shot over the water twice landing onto an undulating fairway and another shot over the narrow serpentine lake to reach the green (set to the left), and the downhill and wide open par-4 11th, with its great panoramic view, and with a second shot over the water crossing the fairway in front of the green. Then, after the straight par-4 12th hole, with a tee shot over the water, in front of the tee box, landing onto an undulating fairway hugging a huge lake (on the left), bordered by bunkers (also on the left), you will face the par-3 13th, and its spectacular view of the city skyline as you tee off, before walking over to the nice par-4 14th, with a tee shot over the water, winding its way across the fairway, midway, and ending further to the right, and a blind approach toward the green. As for the finishing stretch, you will have eagle opportunities on two par-5 holes, the wide open dogleg left 15th, beautiful with an elongated lake, starting midway (on the left) and ending next to the green, reachable with a long second shot, and the pretty dogleg right 18th, quite challenging with a tee shot over the water, winding its way lengthwise in the middle of the fairway, and flowing out into a big lake to the right of the green, again reachable with a very precise and long approach. Set in Dubai, this Eastern Park GC is pretty to look at, but not really a walk in the... park ! But, if you can manage to make a few birdies (or eagles) on some of those par-5 holes, you should really enjoy this par 72, well designed, once again, by rlslay...
