If you want to enjoy a very relaxing round of golf, then pack your bags and head for the Pine Mountain GC, where you will discover a pretty but wide open course, surrounded by small snow-capped mountains, with slight elevations, (mostly) wide fairways, and a few well-placed bunkers to make your approaches to the greens, a little bit challenging (especially on the back 9). On the front 9, I like the nice par-4 3rd hole, with its fairway winding its way along a small river (on the right), the par-4 6th, with a few pot bunkers on both sides of the fairway, midway and near the steeply-elevated green, and the left dogleg par-5 7th, slightly downhill all the way, where you should have an eagle opportunity if you can avoid the three small bunkers across the fairway, not too far from the green, and two smaller ones in front (with another elongated one, behind). The back 9 is nicer and more difficult, especially with those two consecutive par-5 holes, the very long (more than 600 yards) dogleg 11th, bending sharply to the right, with trees on both sides of the fairway, starting midway, and the dogleg 12th, back the other way and bending to the... left (and about 100 yards shorter), but with 3 bunkers, lined up next to each other in front of the green. The par-4 13th is another challenging hole, with a downhill tee shot flying between a narrow gap between trees, and an uphill approach to the green (with three small bunkers in front), and is followed by four dogleg right par-4 holes, with the nicest ones being the 16th, with a downhill tee shot flying past a few trees in the inner corner, midway (and landing onto a slanted and undulated fairway), and an uphill approach to its elevated green, and the 17th, with an uphill tee shot landing downward, and another elevated green to aim at. You will then finish with the straight par-4 18th hole, uphill all the way, with more bunkers scattered around to spice up your last shots... Overall, this par 72 looks nice and plays very smoothly but, if you can avoid some of the bunkers spread all along (especially on the way back), you should score well as this Pine Mountain GC is relatively “easy”, compared to some more spectacular courses, later designed by rlslay, with gorgeous plantings (that gave nightmares to all the gardeners !) as his trademarks...
