Well, this course is anything, but a jungle ! Instead, it looks more like a beautiful fantasy island (the plane, boss, the plane ! “sorry, Tattoo, Quietly did not design this one, so there is none !”), offering breathtaking views on many holes, with gorgeous mountains as a backdrop, tropical plantings, nice villas and a nice two-tone ocean. If this par 72 has quite a few wide open fairways, getting to some of the greens is not that easy, at times, with well-placed bunkers, water hazards and bushes and/or trees, partially hiding them. You will start your round with a short dogleg left par-4 hole, with a downhill tee shot landing in front of a small lake, and a second shot near (or over) part of it to reach the green (depending on your choice of hitting your tee shot over the trees, on the left, to shorten the distance). Then, after the dogleg left par-4 2nd hole, with palm trees in front of the green, partially hiding it (on the right), the par-3 3rd, with a slightly-elevated green, and the dogleg right par-4 4th, with a tee shot landing near a lake, midway on the left (next to a nice gazebo), you will face one of the most scenic holes, with the dogleg left par-5 5th, with a beautiful view of the green fields on the mountain slopes as you approach the green... hard to reach on your second shot. Following the wide open dogleg right par-4 6th hole, with another nice view of the mountain slopes, a spectacular panoramic view awaits you as you stand on the tee box of the wide open par-5 7th, with an elevated green, reachable on your second shot (and its flag, slightly to the right), before moving on to the very scenic par-3 8th, with a tee shot over a wide lake, and finishing with the wide open dogleg left par-4 9th hole, slightly downhill, with two small bunkers, on both sides of the fairway, midway, and where you will “admire” a big clock to the right of the green. The back 9 has some very pretty holes too, as you will see with the short dogleg left par-5 10th, along trees and the ocean (and with a narrow green, surrounded by two big bunkers and a smaller one), the superb and tough par-3 11th, with water in a shape of a horseshoe behind and around the green (reachable with a tee shot over a tall palm tree in front of it), and the wide open dogleg right par-4 12th, facing the ocean, with a downhill approach toward the green. The next three holes are “easier” : the 13th is a short par-4, with a narrow fairway and a green, slightly to the right of a wide lake, the 14th is quite pretty and tricky, with two small lakes on both sides of a narrow green, and the dogleg right par-4 15th has a narrow tree-lined fairway, with two elongated bunkers, midway (on the left) and a green, partially hidden by trees (on the right). Finally, after the par-4 16th hole, “mostly straight”, with a couple of bunkers, midway, on both sides of the narrow fairway, you will walk over to the beautiful dogleg left par-4 17th, with the tee box facing the ocean and with a small lake, midway (on the right), bunkers on the opposite side, and small trees (with a bunker behind) in front of the elevated green, before facing the gorgeous, but very risky par-5 18th, with a fairway winding its way along a lake (on the left) and then getting narrower further to the right, along another small lake, and over which you will have to decide if you want to gamble and try to reach the green with a very long second shot. Needless to say, this Jungle Falls GC is another postcard from rlslay, and if you can manage to keep your eyes on the ball instead of admiring the landscape, and hit a few birdies, here and there, before the challenging 18th hole, you should finish with a nice scorecard before heading for a welcome dip in the ocean, nearby...
