An interesting course, pleasant to look at with its small mountains as a panorama, and challenging, at times, with a big lake to watch for and some small greens to deal with on quite a few holes. The par-5 1st, with its wide fairway hugging a lake (on the left) and along trees (on the right), should offer you an eagle opportunity if you can avoid a big sand trap, right in front of the green (slightly to the right) on your second shot. But the next three holes are more challenging, starting with the dogleg par-4 2nd, and its narrow and undulated fairway, with trees (on the right) and the lake (on the left), and continuing with the short and straight par-4 3rd, quite risky with its small green, reachable from the tee box (but with a small elongated bunker, right in front of it), and the dogleg par-4 4th, along the lake (on the left) and bending sharply to the right, with a blind tee shot along (or over) trees (on the right), and another big bunker in front. Then, after the par-5 5th hole (with another eagle possibility), and the par-3 6th, with its slightly-elevated green, surrounded by sand, you will move on to the tougher dogleg right par-5 7th, with an elongated mound in the middle of the narrow fairway (hugging the lake on the left) and another green, reachable on your second shot. Last, but not least, the par-3 8th hole will offer a pretty view as your tee shot flies over the tip of the lake and past a small bridge (on the right). The back 9 starts with three straight holes (par-3 10th, par-4 11th, and par-3 12th), with the latter being tricky with its tiny green, surrounded by trees, and is followed by the dogleg par-5 13th, along the lake (on the left) and bending slightly to the right, with its green, again reachable for an eagle opportunity. However, after the straight par-3 14th hole, with sand, halfway around in front of the green, the course get much tougher, with the nice dogleg right par-4 15th, with a heavily-undulated and narrow tree-lined fairway (and a big bunker in front of the elevated green), the dogleg right par-4 16th, with another tree-lined fairway, quite tricky with an elongated bunker, midway on the left (and with two small bunkers framing the slightly-elevated green), and the dogleg right par-4 17th, with a narrow fairway and an elongated bunker (in the outer corner) and another big bunker in front of the green. Thankfully, the par-4 18th hole is wide open and you should have one last birdie shot after reaching its slightly-elevated green. With this par 72, Chipgill continues to improve in his design and, if the sight of the small flowers, all located in the same spot behind the greens, lacks a little variety, this Lake St-Louis GC is fun to play, as you will have to think first before hitting some of your shots !

Chipgill, I really enjoyed Lake St Louis, had some tough drives, but played absolutely fair, good bounces and bad. And in addition, I appreciate your willingness to accept comments regarding the course, something that doesn't happen much anymore. I'll keep Lake St Louis because it's a "real" course, which is what I enjoy.
Thanks again, Chipgill.
