Third version after the ones designed by Danut golf (2007) and Neil Munro (2011), this 2013 CGX Bro Hoff Slott GC rendition is beautiful with its wide open space, slight elevation changes, and pretty tough, especially on the back 9, with plenty of spectacular water holes down the finishing stretch. After the straight par-5 1st hole, along the VIP tents (on the left) and its elevated green, guarded by two wide bunkers, you will have a chance to admire a beautiful stone bridge over the lake on the right side of the green of the par-4 2nd, before enjoying a nice panoramic view as you reach the green of the slightly-downhill par-3 4th hole. Water, then, comes into play on the next two right dogleg holes, the par-4 5th, with an uphill tee shot and a blind approach over a serpentine creek crossing the fairway to reach the green, and the par-4 6th, a little bit similar to the 5th, but with a tee shot over the creek instead. But the best has yet to come with the gorgeous par-3 7th hole, with a tee shot over an elongated lake and a flag, set real close to its edge, and the wide open left dogleg par-5 9th, along a lake (on the left), where you will have to choose the right club if you decide to hit your tee shot over it to try to shorten the distance, before aiming a long and risky approach toward its elevated green, with a big pond (on the right) to watch for. The back 9 starts with the nice par-4 10th hole, with the ocean (on the far right) and the lake flowing past the green (on the left), and continues with the very pretty and challenging par-3 11th, with a tee shot over an elongated lake and a flag, set right at the tip. Two par-5 holes follow : the left dogleg 12th, with wide bunkers on both sides of the fairway, midway, and a tough approach over the winding creek to get to the green (guarded by a wide bunker), and the very scenic dogleg 13th, bending sharply around a wide lake (on the right) over which you will have to hit a risky second shot to reach the small green. Then, after the “easy” par-4 14th hole, uphill all the way and with a green, slightly to the left, brace yourself for one of the toughest finishing holes you will ever face... It begins with the magnificent left dogleg par-5 15th hole, with a tee shot over the ocean and another shot over the water to reach the peninsula green (guarded by a bunker in front), and continues with the gorgeous par-3 16th, with trees along the narrow fairway (on the right) and the ocean (on the left), over which you will have to hit your tee shot to get to the green. Last, but not least, you will have to hit a blind tee shot over a... sponsor's car (in the middle of a lake) on the pretty and picturesque par-3 17th hole, if you want to reach its (almost) island green, before walking over to the superb right dogleg par-4 18th where, after a tee shot over that lake again, you will aim your final and blind approach toward its elevated green. With its very nice plantings and attention to details, this par 72 is one of the CGX team’s best and one of their toughest, with its well-placed water hazards, wide bunkers, and undulating greens. But it is only after completing your round that you will realize “how Swede it is” !
