A very pleasant course to play, with a big lake to deal with on a few holes, plenty of blind shots and a few trees to avoid, and with quite a few elevated and small greens to aim for. You will start your round with a short and straight par-4, quite pretty with its panoramic view and tee shot over a wide lake and its elevated green, before heading for the nice par-4 2nd, bending slightly to the right, with a blind and uphill tee shot over deep rough, landing onto an undulating and sloped fairway, next to the lake (on the right), and an uphill approach to reach the gently-slanted green. Then, after hitting a blind tee shot over deep rough to reach the green of the par-3 3rd hole, you will face three challenging holes, starting with the tough left dogleg par-4 4th, with a blind and uphill tee shot landing near trees and bushes in the corner and a downhill green, the par-5 5th, with a blind tee shot over a big mound, filled with trees and a downhill green (next to the lake, on the left, and hard to reach on your second shot, with trees hiding it on the left), and, my favorite, the gorgeous par-3 6th hole, with a blind tee shot landing onto a peninsula green, with a big tree (behind the flag) as a visual help to reach the green. On the downhill par-4 7th hole, you will have to think twice if you want to reach the green (about 300 yards away), as you will need to hit a blind tee shot (along the lake on the left) and make sure to avoid landing onto the U-shaped bunker in front of the green, before moving on to the right dogleg par-5 8th, with another blind and steeply-uphill tee shot, and its fairway split midway by rough and a serpentine path. As for the left dogleg par-4 9th hole, you will need to hit a blind and uphill tee shot landing onto a narrow tree-lined fairway, followed by an elevated approach to reach the green, partially hidden by trees. The back 9 starts with the left dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot over trees and a small downhill green, and continues with the par-4 11th, with a big mound, filled with bushes, splitting the fairway, and an uphill approach to its elevated green. On the par-4 12th hole (slightly to the left), you will have to hit your tee shot over plenty of deep rough, with more to watch for (in front of the green), unlike on the par-4 13th, where plenty of shrubs are planted along the fairway. More deep rough between the tee and the slightly-downhill green awaits you on the par-3 14th hole, before walking over to the right dogleg par-4 15th, with plenty of wide bunkers spread along its rollercoaster fairway and elevated green. Finally, after hitting a blind and downhill tee shot on the par-4 16th hole, and facing a tough decision, club-wise, on the tee box of the short par-4 17th hole (with plenty of deep rough to avoid), you will have one last eagle opportunity on the left dogleg par-5 18th, with a blind and downhill tee shot and another blind and elevated approach over some trees to reach the green. With small wooded hills as a panorama, nice plantings, and its Gannon lake as the center of attention, Bruce Ryder designed a challenging course, dedicated to his mom, who can be very proud of her son !
