Don’t be fooled by the links-style looks of the par-4 opening hole and the last two holes, more wide open. This par 72, brilliantly designed by Bob Hiker, is simply gorgeous all along, with its panoramic views, steep elevation changes and its (sometimes) tricky greens where the slightest mistake can spell trouble if you are not careful with your approaches. On the front 9, my favorite holes are the long par-3 5th and the par-4 6th, quite spectacular with their steep downhill overall views (showing the Lake Okanagan further back), with a tee shot flying high above big rocks on the latter and its uphill approach to the slightly-elevated green. You will start your way back, with another nice view of the valley on the par-4 10th hole before heading for some bumpy fairways on the par-5 11th and 13th holes, and the par-4 14th, quite pretty with the lake behind as you reach its elevated green. Then, after the very pretty par-3 15th hole, with a tee shot flying above the water, you will move on to the picturesque, treacherous and short par-4 16th, whose downhill green is set next to a small lake on the left and beautiful homes on a hilltop on the right, leaving you with almost no choice but to lay up if you don’t want to feel sorry... As mentioned above, you will finish with two more wide open holes, the left dogleg par-4 17th, with its fairway hugging water all along on the left, and the par-4 18th, slightly downhill and with a nice approach over a little creek splitting the fairway and framed by two little stone bridges. Beautifully-designed (with nice plantings, fences, rock formations, homes, small mountains and lakes), this real course, set in Canada, looks like a postcard and is definitely one of my favorites from Bob Hiker and you should hurry to download it to find out for yourself !
