Several people are using Win10, for most people it works.
( When you have a Direct X error message, then you first have to do method 1 or method 2, desscribed a bit lower about the Direct X error).
For all users,Follow steps below:
On desktop you should have TW08 program icon.
This is how you can get the TW08 icon on your desktop:
Go to the bin folder in TW08, see path below:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\bin

Now inside the bin folder right click the TW08.exe icon, and in list choose: Copy to...and choose: Desktop
Now you will have the Tw08 icon on your desktop.
Now you will have to run TW08 in compatibility mode, see help below.

Automatically Change Compatibility Mode Settings for App in Program Compatibility Troubleshooter:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right click on TW08 icon on desktop, and click/tap on: Troubleshoot compatibility
Click/tap: Continue
Then click second option: Continue troubleshoot program
Now choose option on top: Try recommended settings
And click: Test program
Now TW08 should start, when it started close TW08 again
Now click: Next......and choose the option on top: Save the settings for this program
After that TW08 should work.
Important note: When you do the compatibility thing, it is possible your system will say it will not work in compatibility mode or TW08 will not start, but just finish the steps above and restart your PC and it should work !!!!

You can try this when you have message: Direct X is reporting there is not enough memory:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are 2 methods, you have to choose 1 method.

Method1: ( by JoSummer )
--------
You can get around this problem by limiting the system RAM. To do so ..

1. press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type msconfig, and click/tap on OK.

2. under the Boot tab in System Configuration, click on the Advanced options button

3. check the Maximum memory box and set the value to 4095, hit ok and reboot the system when asked.

You shouldn''t have any disadvantages by doing so, because there''''s only a few applications or games that are actually addressing (benefit from) more than 4GB system RAM.

Method 2: ( by CutesyButton )
---------
I do have another workaround however, where you don''''t have to restrict RAM so I''l put it here as another option.

Step One:-
Go to http://dege.freeweb.hu/ and download the latest version of DG Voodoo.

Step Two:-

Extract the DGVoodoo Setup program and DDraw.dll and D3Dlmm.dll files into the bin directory of your Tiger Woods 08 install.

Step Three:-

Run the DgVoodoo setup program.

Step Four:-

Head to the directX tab and uncheck "Disable and passthru to real DirectX".

Step Five:-

In the VRAM drop box, type a reasonable value like 520000 KB (note the space between the number and KB) - while it is a drop down box with 3 values, it accepts typed ones as well.

Note- The resolution changes didn''t work for me here, so I had to use the universal widescreen program (from widescreengaming) and the Tiger 2004 (Custom Menu) res patch to get 1920x1080.

Step Six:-

Run the game, and hey presto. Can confirm this works for Tiger 07 as well.

My Setup:- FX8350/Radeon HD7950 3GB/16GB Memory

When you are using TWCaddie08 to install courses:
------------------------------------------------
Right click TWCaddie08 icon....choose properties....on top click: Shortcut......and then on bottom click: Advanced
And check the Run as administrator box, and click: OK

Option: When you don t have the icon on your desktop, you can also go to: C:\Program Files\CourseDownloads.com\TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64
And you can do the administrator thing on the TWCaddie08 icon you will find there.

Having just bought a new PC running WIN10 I downloaded TW2008 via Origin which installed successfully. When I try to run the game I am invited to sign in with my EA account which produces the response "unable to connect to server, please try again in a few minutes". Having managed to get a response from EA they tell me what I suspected anyway that the servers for TW2008 have been taken offline. My original TW2008 boxed DVD version disappeared in a house break-in hence I resorted to the download version. Anyone have any alternative solutions?

Hiya Colin,

you can still buy CD version of TW08 on Amazon UK
The new ones are kind of expensive, but you can also buy used ones.
( Be sure to buy a PC version, and not a MAC version )
TW08 on Amazon UK, see link below:

Or you can try this link:

Thanks Gunpower, will probably follow your advice as I'd figured there probably wasn't going to be a get out option. Will steer clear of EA in future as the Origin/download route seems to give them too much control over how and when you can play. I did purchase TW2012 as well which may not have been the greatest buy but I played it for a while, until the 10 online courses disappeared along with the online tournaments. Now they've sabotaged TW2008 as well.

Hello,

When you receive the message DirectX reports there is not enough Video memory then you can try one of those options:

There are 2 methods, you have to choose 1 method.

The easiest method is the one from JoSummer, but the best option is to do CutesyButton his method:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Method1: ( by JoSummer )
--------
You can get around this problem by limiting the system RAM. To do so ..

1. press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type msconfig, and click/tap on OK.

Step Six:-

Run the game, and hey presto. Can confirm this works for Tiger 07 as well.

My Setup:- FX8350/Radeon HD7950 3GB/16GB Memory

Note: After you did one of both methods, then you probably will still have to do the compatibility thing, see the first post on top.

So i think you already did the compatibility thing:

So when you already did the compatibility thing in my post above, and you still have problems, try this:

Right click the TW08 icon you start game with, and choose: Properties.....compatibility....and check the box: Run this program in compatibility mode for
Now in the box select for example: XP......and click: Apply
After that try the game again, and look if its better
When it is still not working in the compatibility box try: Win7....Vista....Win8 ( and look which one works best )

The Mouse Cursor problems should be fixed in the Vista SP2 Mode!
But the other Problem is still there.
If i wanna "Play Ball" the Programm crashes!
If i wanna play a "Practice Game" OR A game from the "PGA Tour"
i get the following Message:"Could not initialize the selected Course"
All courses are in the bin folder

Hiya, you courses shouldn t be installed in the bin folder.
When you are using TWCaddie08 to install courses, follow steps below:

Be sure to use the correct version of TWCaddie08 ( 32bit or 64bit )

How can you find out you have a 32 bit or 64 bit system:
First you have to go to control Panel in Win10
This is how you can find control panel in win10:

http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2691-control-panel-open-windows-10-a.html

Inside control panel go to: System.......there you will find you have a 32bit or 64bit system.

When you found out go to TWCaddie08 download page on link below:

http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/category.asp?id=1&gameid=11

On that page you will see 2 download links:

when you have win10 32bit.... download this one:
TW Caddie 08 v1.5

when you have win10 64bit... download this one:
TW Caddie 08 x64 Beta

So when you downloaded the TWCaddie08 zipfile to your PC:
First extract or unzip the downloaded zipfile, and dubble click the file: Setup.exe
Now TWCaddie08 will be installed on your system.

Important step:
---------------
Right click TWCaddie08 icon on your desktop....choose properties....on top click: Shortcut......and then on bottom click: Advanced

( On your desktop on bottom in taskbar you should have an icon: Explorer. )
( Dubble click explorer icon and go to: C:\Program Files\CourseDownloads.com\TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64 )

Option:To put an icon on your desktop: go to: C:\Program Files\CourseDownloads.com\TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64
( On your desktop on bottom in taskbar you should have an icon: Explorer. )
( Dubble click explorer icon and go to: C:\Program Files\CourseDownloads.com\TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64 )

Now inside the folder (TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64) you will find the icon to start TWCaddie08
Go to the blue TWCaddie08 icon and right click it, and in list choose: Copy to....and in next list choose: Desktop (create shortcut)
After that you will find the TWCaddie08 icon on your desktop.
Right click TWCaddie08 icon....choose properties....on top click: Shortcut......and then on bottom click: Advanced
And check the Run as administrator box, and click: OK

Yes, i thought you installed some custom courses.
so when you play the stock courses that came with the game, then you don t need TWCaddie08.
The stock courses will be installed automatic after you installed TW08 game.
But it is still a bit weird you find the courses in the bin folder
The stock courses should be found in the Courses folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses

Not sure why you receive the message, since it is one of the stock courses that came with the game.
Maybe you can try to run TW08 as administrator, not sure it will help though:
Right click TW08 icon on your desktop....choose properties....on top click: Shortcut......and then on bottom click: Advanced
And check the Run as administrator box, and click: OK

Might be this way:
Right click TW08 icon on your desktop....choose properties....Compatibility
And check the Run as administrator box, and click: OK
