Located in Machrihanish, this course, designed by MSR Golf, plays very smoothly but is not as challenging as the Dunes' course. With very nice plantings (especially the gorse), a few deep bunkers spread around and the lighthouse, visible from many holes, this par-72 looks pretty, even though I am not too fond of all these white tents and the... white houses, preferring, instead, to look at small details added by MSR Golf, like the big hole numbers near the tee boxes, the camera towers and the "cute" little steps to reach the leaderboards. Most holes have wide fairways and smooth greens, giving you plenty of opportunities to score well on this course. While this course is not overly difficult, I like the par-5 1st hole and its little stream across the middle of the fairway, along with the other par-5 9th, next to the sea (a little bit too dark to my taste...). But my favorite hole is the par-4 8th where you can reach the downhill (and hidden) green from the tee, with a carefully-chosen club. On the back 9, the par-4 18th stands out with its nice view around the green and the... white lighthouse ! This course is not the hardest Scottish one you will ever play on but it is a nice one to keep...

Opening this course,I immediately remembered Turnberry Ailsa (same lighthouise, same small island in the distance). Tell me, Mr. MSR if I'm right or wrong. A great course to look at and play on, this Kintyre course (at the famous Mull of Kintyre -I'll ask Paul McCartney - I suppose), Maybe some holes are a bit short (giving opportunities for many eagles and even albatrosses), but it's great pleasure to be there. I think when all the party tents are away, the course will look even better! Many thanks to the designer for his great work... Love it.....

This is a fun Scots course without quite the bleakness some of them seem to have. The designer has laying gorse out to a science. This one I will play many times. My congratulations to its creator.

Once again youve proven your wonderful ability to design Classic Golf Courses. Lots to like here with little if anything to bunch your knickers in a snit. I have always looked forward to your designs and have rearely been disapointed. I am happy to say that trend continues. Now for a Taddy Boy....
