| This note of for Bangus (creator of the utility) or anyone else who can answer.....How do you update the individual player files to increase the finishing tournament scores? I play a career with the edited scoring files (_20 - -25 under)....And, can you change the player names? (to update to today's top players)..Thanks |

As Gunpower61 says, it won't work. I am working on an updated version of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour card holders for the 2025 season. I hope to have the PGA Tour players ready to upload in the next week or two. At the moment I have about 40 PGA Tour players edited. My goal is to have at least 125. I'm using the player statistics for the 2024 season, with some minor modifications. For example, you can't have an average driving distance of more than 300 yards, so I'm adjusting them so that the best hitters have an average driving distance of 300 yards. The way to create or update opponents without using hex editors is to create a new player and add him to a custom game. There you can set him as CPU controlled and edit his stats. The file '***.plr', where *** is the name of the player you have created, will then be used for the season opponent folders (PGA Tour, PGAChamp and PGASmall). |

placed then in dir where they belong.. Now Scottie Scheffler is in the game
BUT his name is Tiger Woods with his own photo
I can now change attributes to create a better pcu player.. with out hex editing
How do I change the ***name*** of the player I just created?
This is the best way to improve cpu opponents for career..
When starting a new custom career the game will put them into the tour/auto

I don't think there is a way to change the name of a created player. It is the same as renaming the player Tiger Woods. In the game it will still be Tiger Woods even if you rename all the files for that player. I don't know if you can do this with a hex editor, but I don't know.
That's why it's a bit tricky to create or update players. You have to create every player you want and then update their stats in a custom game.
Once you have created all the players, you need to copy the .plr files of each player and paste them into the opponent folders of the game. These folders are in the directory where the game is installed, in the 'Players' directory. The 3 folders used in the Pro Tour simulation are PGASmall, PGAChamp and PGA Tour.

If you are playing a season tournament or a stroke format custom game (in this case you can select your opponents), the CPU will select your opponents from the 'PGA Tour', 'PGAChamp' or 'PGASmall' folders, depending on how the tournament is set up. If I am not mistaken, when you play a season tournament and the opponents are from the 'PGA Tour' folder, the game randomly selects about 85% of the players from that folder. On the other hand, if you play a season tournament and the players are from the 'PGAChamp' folder, the game will select all the players from that folder for that tournament.
If you wish, you can also play a single stroke play round (Custom Game - Stroke Play) against all the players in the 'PGA Tour' folder. If you start a single round of stroke play and select the 'PGA Tour' folder as your opponent, you will play against all the players in that folder.
Each time you create a new player in the game, a file named 'Player Name.plr' will be created in the folder '...\Documents\PGA TOUR 08 PGA TOUR\Player', as well as a folder with the same name 'Player Name'.
So when you create a new player (it is also important that you edit their equipment) and then include him in a custom game, you will be able to edit their stats.
If you want this player to be included in the Tour season tournaments you play, you must copy the file 'Player Name.plr', which is located in the folder '...\Documents\PGA TOUR 08 PGA TOUR\Player' (you don't have to copy the folder, just the file .plr), to 3 folders located in the game installation folder '...\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Players': 'PGA Tour', 'PGAChamp' and 'PGASmall'. There are a lot of 'Player Name.plr' files in these folders. You need to copy the file into these folders.
In case of your need, a couple of years ago I created some files with updated PGA Tour and DP World Tour players. There is a ReadMe file in the download zip with instructions on how to use them.

The key was another post i copied

Even got the model done mmm sort of.. can always fix it later

Was getting everything into a folder for backup and I am missing

in the ability folder... The game should have created this but I noticed the same file was missing for all of my created players...
This file is with all the players in (pga players updat) which has 3 files into ability folder
edit: after playing 18 with scotti and loosing -3 to -4 scotti in expert mode The file showd up

Effectively the ''Player Name.aia'' file is generated when you play a round with that player, either controlled by yourself or controlled by the CPU.
The ''Player Name.aia'' file will not be created until a round has been played with that player. |
