"Kinda Final now, CGX no longer exists..URL has been removed, no more speculation required. I''m kinda sad but not surprised and feel sorry for all the Loyal Members that have been kicked in the teeth like this. Thought Jimbo was made of better stuff....bye all
BTW, incase anyone doesn''t know I was Intoxicajin on the site, I think the Chinese Flag probably gave it away" |
Man if that is the case yes it does suck and it does hurt that it was handled this way. Its one thing to be sad and upset if it was known that is was going to close but to have it disappear overnight without any hint this was going to happen and not being able to say goodbye well to say I'm more then a bit disappointed would be an understatement.
Anyways it is what it is. I guess now I will be turning my off time towards trying to figure out Unity for PP I took a half hearted crack at it last winter but now I guess I will try to take it more serious and see how frustrated I can get with it.
Anyways if anyone from the old PGAX/CGX wants to contact me you can pm me here. Take care all and may the golf gods smile upon you and don't forget to take the time to smell the roses along the walk of life. |

back in the early days of EASO going off line many looked for a way to play the game and to have fun. and in those days when things were a bit more open to view sites and see what they were all about was not really fair for alot of people getting rejected for reasons unknown.
I tried to join at one time but was rejected for the simple fact I was a member at a rival club, so I let things go for several years to readjust things on what was the new future of golf. I do like to look at a site to see what kind of set up there is and also to look at how things are with the standings and stats of those who were members.
now in the past couple of years I have tried to look in on the PGAX/CGX Xlambakers site but every place I clicked to check things out got a OOPS SORRY YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION to me that is a very big turn of as a person who was wanting to join.
you have to admit that not any new possible members would even join due to the fact that they did HIDE all aspects of the site from possible new members joining, ( only way to see small bits or parts was to join as a spectator and that even had its limits as to what one could view.
so with this in mind i joined at the time a site called EA Sports Golf and saw that that site had great ideas and kept records of ever game played during the upsaid of EASO along with their own members and tours to boot, to me that was a selling point to me joining the site and became a loyal member in which later became Golf-4Fun Tour.
after my first year there i was very happy to see how things were handled when problems happened and the staff at the time did not put off members for days on end just the fact that they took the fast action to help those who needed it and solved many issues and problems ( either with the game or help in solving computer problems or even with other members). just after that I becam a ADMIN there and for the first time got the chance to see how a true site if run from the inside of all areas to keep it updated every day and several times a day, and during that first year i did see and hear many things of other sites and how those were treating members, and also to hear alot of bad talk about Golf-4Fun Tour and to that fact we never said anything bad about other clubs nore did we say things to make waves with those clubs or their members.
now again i was told by many friends that used to be members at PGAX/CGX that there was no way i would ever become a member there for the simple fact i am a ADMIN at Golf-4Fun Tour but again Jmeier in the past few years has been to our site and looking around at the inovations of what our owner / programmer of the site and tool we use for keeping stats and tour rounds and good things like that, we at no time have ever bad mouthed him nore did we boot / ban him or any other member from PGAX/CGX from our site.
every time i saw Jmeier on our site i would say good day jmeier hope things are looking good, and this past week i have seen him on our site many times but did not have a chance to greet him but seen that when other members are on to post jmeier lurking in the house,to me that is not bad mouthing just making aware that he was there and those who have said things like that might have a personal grudge with him and others that is fine for it never reach the status of requiring ADMIN control to have it stopped.
and yes over the years i have made many friends from being part of a great Golf Community regardless of what club they belonged to, and to hear many stories of many things is beyond belief and most are true fact from those who just want to let people know that some things were not up to snuff and get reated like dirt in return.
sure its a sad fact that they closed up but again look at yourself and how you were treated by those in the matters that you brought to their concern, even now some of my good friend do tell stories of how they would take people to court and sue them for giving out their so called course and it theirs by rights of design. that is a bunch of crap the true right to those designs would belong to EA Sports for its their programs they use to make them and as members state i paid my dues so if i want to share with a frind i have that right to do so,
now in the past couple of days meny members have joined us here at Golf-4Fun Tour have from what i have seen is good remarks to the site and the Admin staff for being on the ball with great offered help and yes i will go out of my way to ensure that all members have same treatment, yes i will admit i have had some harsh words with some of our members but again the respect of those is there from me no matter what really takes place.
so please take a good look at all things / matters around you over the past several years and think of how all actions really happend to ones self or not even with all the rumors true or not and make your own choice to what is right in front of you, and if you feel like you want to look in on our site please feel free to look around we DO NOT HIDE THINGS from our members / players / friends or the common JOE off the street we welcome all.
my hosest thoughts from the crap over the past 8 to 10 yeas of playing the game of GOLF with what ever club is out there. JP Denny 09

Ian Stuart, Glenn, Gary, Pete, JB, Rob, Allen, Jim and all the good folk, i met along the way thank you all for good mateship, help and support, and may God bless and keep you all well and i wish you all the very Best. I to will be doing my best to figuire out Forge and Unity, some good video's on the site to help. As I have no idea still why things worked out the way it did, I can only wish Jim well and hope his dissapearance doesn't mean that he is no longer with us.
When I saw the Chinese flag Ian it did sought of give it away who you were, Anyone that has a winge about losing a few dollars, spare a thought for Ian, whose funds basically kept CGX going on many occasions. You taught me how to enjoy golf again, if you or any of the above want to catch up sometime with a Lan game you will find me on Google+.
Cheers.

SandieBunker, I wholeheartedly agree with your last post. I was with CGX a short while but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I have now joined up with G4F and completed my first round. I would recomend all to give that site a try. There is a lot of variety there without the need to search for partners.
Best wishes

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.

Personally I had a great time whilst a Member of PGAX/CGX and made a lot of good friends. I had a break for a while when TWOnline was alive and kicking but as soon as EA stupidly pulled the plug I immediately returned. I am saddened to see the ending of the Site but will have pleasure in knowing that I met some Great Course Designers and very very good Friends who I very much hope I will stay in touch with. Send me a PM here anytime.
Thank you for your Friendship, Help and Advice over the Years and the best of Luck to Everyone. |

I cannot tell what happened to CGX Tour, but I can tell for sure that you only stop working on something, because of a serious reason. I''m facing health problems at the moment, so the tour website comes second and most of the things I''ve planned to add are stopped for now.
However, it would be sad if a longtime community website is gone. I totally agree with Sandie, its all about to keep this great game alive. Earlier this year I offered a launcher for everyone who''s planning to start a tour website. Due to my illness I couldn''t finish this launcher for other tours, but it''s still on my todo list.
Every tour or league out there keeps this great game alive, also I think that we, the rest of the TW08 community, should stick together and not fighting each other.

Sad news about CGX if it is true, but good news for this site if we see some of their first-class courses, and hopefully designers, return. If any new courses are uploaded to this site from CGX designers is it better to have only 2 pin placements, as this will keep it fairer for tournament players. I am suggesting this because CGX played 2 sets of the same course each with 2 pins and I am not sure how the other playing sites use the courses. |

As a programmer, I am more than capable of writing a client that recreates CGX, however I have no idea where to even begin looking for the information. If anyone wants to point me in the right direction, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do about keeping this going if in fact CGX is no more. I was never a fan of charging people money for anything, if this shut down is about funds and CGX needs a a server, we have space and through voluntary donations we can operate without any mandatory assistance from players.
Im also right in the middle of rebuilding this site, so if they want to join forces now would be a perfect time to do so..... |

TruBluMich....that's quite nice of you to offer to help out recovering what the TW2008 community has lost. What I was wondering was if there would be a chance that someone at CourseDownLoads would be willing to resurrect The Clambaker's Tour which was run by CGX. |

JB would be a very good one to start with, if he is willing, Jeff Jarvis no doubt would be another, being a part of the original PGAX design team |

You're kidding, right Bruce?. No way should JB considered as he is part of the problem with the current situation. He has been on here and not said a word.
I'd rather he NOT be involved in anything that may arise here given his behaviour/action with how people have been treated. |

Thats a real shock. CGX or PGAX at its peak was a wonderful site, offering a unique experience and fantastic courses. Although Jim and I had our differences, I always found him to be a real gent. I am surprised that the site has just ceased to be with no warning or explanation.
Just as a by the way:
The suggestion that Jim tricked up the greens after designers had submitted courses is just nonsense. (at least it was while I was designing there). None of my courses were ever altered in any way shape or form from the final versions I submitted. |

I agree Neil about the tricking up of greens after it was submitted comment. Jim or no one did that. In order to do so they would have to have the tca and yes tca were uploaded to the site it ususally was after the event was over. Now did the greens get changed the following year? In quite a few cases yes. |

Oh and as far as JB is concerned without knowing the situation or the circumstances its not really fair to throw him under the bus. I don't know if there is possible legal implications as far as what he can or can not disclose to the public. If that is the case would anyone put themselves in a jam financially to break the NDA if there is one? I know I wouldn't. |

Hi !
I followed the discussions about the end of CGX with great interest and as a regular player I am as much frustrated as most of us. I have a question about the courses I collected over many years as a regular CGX member. Since the CGX website is no longer existent, it is impossible to find out which course was designed by whom. That also means it is impossible to ask the designer about copyright matters. Has anyone considered of publishing these courses here ? If CGX staff has no longer interest in keeping the site alive, what problems would they have with their courses being uploaded here ? Copyright considerations, of course. But I just want these fantastic courses not being lost for all the time. Please get me right: it should only be a gift for the community - I have no "revenge" thoughts against CGX.
Straight asked: if I would upload a CGX course here, would it be deleted right away and myself getting banned from this site ? Maybe someone can enlighten me what to do with my course collection without harming someone. The collection has about 150 real courses (both PGA and European Tours), annually updated to their latest edition.
PM also welcome.
Greetings from Germany,
