"Sorry if I was unclear. What I was asking is if there will be a visible third-person golfer? In the gameplay video for the game, there is no golfer model present. All you see is the golf ball from a first person perspective, you do not even see arms or club swinging. It looks okay on drives because the ball appears at your feet. But on putts the camera is pulled back and the ball appears 10 feet ahead of you, and then appears to magically take off on its own steam.
I can understand why a golf game developer would remove golfer models (easier to program). I was just wondering if this game will add golfer models later, or is this how it will look and play?" | Hi Bangus. imo, its up to them to come over here and explain that, because again imo the potential for thousands of buyers is here, but imo it does not look to good to me. |

I like the looks of most of it. One thing that did not look good was the ball physics, specifically the ball rolling across the green and stopping in the rough. Visually the ball and ball movement looked on the level of Links 2003. |

Over swung, nar nothing special I'am afraid. |

I guess its my fault for putting up a link to that video. I just wanted to show Course Forge to some folks here..
So back on track.. Those pics that are from within the course forge is what you see while you are designing your course, thus, it blows the old TW ca 06 away.. At least I think so...
You have to understand, that video was not put out by PP to show the final product, it was just something to wet everyones appetite.
I very much highly doubt that there going to develop a golf game that has no AI, that would be lame but at the time of the video, they hadnt got that far into development, from what I understood.
They are just now doing a First Beta Test on the Course Forge and I am quite impressed at what you see while you are designing your course..
Now you may ask, why try to push Course Forge first to the public, rather then the game itself? I have no clue, I personally dont plan on designing any courses if it does come first, until I see a playable golf game that is going to stick around for a while...
Now, if you would like to see a quick 5 min. video of Course Forge then here is the link
http://www.perfectparallel.com/videos/_/course-forge-in-5-minutes-r4
Remember, this was made in april 2013, so you know they have tuned it since then...:)
EA Sports is a huge company and has been around for many years, these guys are a very small company just starting out.. Im not trying to sale there products for them, I am just sharing the progress of their Course Forge designer.. I havent made up my mind about anything PP has done yet.
I also agree that any golf game they come out with does have to be better then the TWs PC Series and they know I feel that way about it...
Whew...

Thanks axe. I hope I do not come across as being critical, I was simply trying to add to the dialogue here and ask some questions that came up for me. With so few golf games out there, it is always a good thing to see a new one in development. |

The reason for the Course Forge is that Mike J is a professional course designer. This tool was built for professional golf course visualization first and foremost. They are also trying to develop a game around it as well. Everybody involved in the project has some times to Links game in some shape or fashion so I imagine the basis for the new game will be closer to Links then to something like the EA platform. |

I have to say that the course designer looks very good, but my main concern for some time has been that it was originally designed for use with golf simulators and they are struggling to get a decent playable PC/Mac game. I play both Links 2003 and TW2008 and TW2008 has much better game play IMO, so if it turns out like Links play then it will not be as good as TW2008. This is of course only guesswork on my part, as they seem to be extremely reluctant to release much info about actual game play. Meanwhile I am not getting any younger waiting to see what happens at PP . . . LOL |

Imo the Course Forge Designer looks great and all but it makes use of Unity software.Unity is more used to create flash games for Web and smallish platform games.I think there is going to be a lot of bugs on this designer.Imo Unity not that great software to develop games... |

Actually Unity is a total 3D game engine. Much like EA Frostbite Engine or the CryEng, or Unreal Engine. While the 3D rendering is not as powerful as those others built for hi end games, Unity does a real good job, and is perfectly suited for this. EA and many other studios use Unity for numerous console games as well as other projects. The workflow coding functions are very powerful and flexible, plus the plugins for it are very extensive. Plus it can be built for any platform that can run the Unity engine, web browsers, installed directly to pc, as well as consoles. |
