I just got a new hp computer with Windows 8.1 and I get an error message that tells me that my version of TW08 is not compatible with this version of windows.. Actually at this point I have no idea what I am doing.. I am so disgusted...and confused.. this windows 8.1 is a nightmare.. Is anyone else having similar problems.. or is it just that I am not intelligent enough to figure this out..

I purchased a laptop with windows 8, after about 4 days decided wanted nothing to do with it, and took it back.

Right now with my setup have XP, Vista, and two with Windows 7.

No idea if this is your only computer, what the make is, or what you are using it for.

Would dump windows 8 and install Windows 7 and if you want to design stuff for this game than use XP. I like 7 the best, no problems with XP at all.

Windows 8 = Trash Can

Hiya Hop...

Tw08 works on Win8, but you will have to run tw08 in Compatibility mode.
You can try to run the program in Win7 or Xp mode on your Win8 system.
Follow steps below:

1.
On your desktop, right-click the TW08 icon and choose Properties.

2.
When the Properties dialog box appears, click the Compatibility tab and then click the Run Compatibility Troubleshooter button.

In its robotic way, Windows 8 tries to guess what version of Windows your program needs, and then it applies the changes. If the program begins working, youre through.

If the program still has trouble, though, move to Step 3.

3.
In the Compatibility Mode section, select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For check box and select Win7 from the drop-down list.

4.Click OK and then try running TW08 again to see whether it works better.

When TW08 works it is time to install TWCaddie08, follow steps below:

First you have to find out you have a 32 bit or 64 bit system:

1.Touch or click on System and Security within Control Panel.

Note: You wont see a System and Security link in Control Panel if your view is set to either Large icons or Small icons. If so, find System and touch or click on it, then skip to Step 3.

2.With the System and Security window now open, click or touch System.

3.With the System applet now open, titled View basic information about your computer, find the System area, located under the large Windows 8 logo.

The System type will say either 64-bit Operating System or 32-bit Operating System.

When you found out go to TWCaddie08 download page on link below:

http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/category.asp?id=1&gameid=11

On that page you will see 2 download links:

when you have win8 32bit.... download this one:
TW Caddie 08 v1.5

when you have win8 64bit... download this one:
TW Caddie 08 x64 Beta

When you installed TWCaddie08 you should see a TWCaddie08 icon on your desktop.
On desktop right click the TWCaddie08 icon.....choose: Properties....compatibility...and check box: Run as administrator...and click: Apply

Hello all,

I have been able to get TW08 to run in Windows 8, but now I'm having trouble downloading complete files from this site and CGX. If the file is over about five Megs, the download will shut down as complete even though only a little more than half of the file has actually downloaded. Then, when I attempt to extract the file, I receive the dreaded "Cannot open file as archive" message. I can download the same file completely on my wife's laptop with Windows 7. It then opens and loads (except for Seminole and Pine Valley 07 so far, both of which crash to desktop) okay when I transfer the file to my laptop.

Anyone have any insight on this problem?

Hiya..
Are you using Internet explorer or another webbrowser ?
Maybe it is good idea to try another webbrowser, maybe it will work with other webbrowser.
You can also try to delete your temporary internet files.

Hi Hyno Designs

Read your post, saying you do not have problem running TW 08 on 2 Win 7 computers.
I have had my Win 7 machine for 9 months know(Win 7 Home Preium 64bit)I like to run
my XP machine in LAN mode OFFLINE(not hooked up to the internet)sometimes to get the
75% attributies to practice for online tournaments. But on my Win 7 computer when I
attempt to play in Lan mode OFFLINE, not hook to the net. I get this message....
Connection Status....Couldn't create the game, the name might already be in use...
Now if I'm hooked up to the net, I do not have a problem playing in LAN mode...
Any Ideas..I have tryed all the combatability modes from Win 95 to Win 7 and all in
between...UAC is OFF everything is set to run as Admin. I have had Gunpower61..JSJarvis
from here...JP Denny and Jo Summer from Golf-4Fun trying to help. As well as a post at
www.techguy.org. But no one has been able to come up with an answer to correct this
problem. I have even ran a bing search...nothing. And you know the way computers are
it has got to be something very simple..right...lol..lol..anywho any help will be
great THANKS VERY MUCH.

When I say no problems with Windows 7, I am speaking about the operating system and interface. Not really the Tiger Woods game. Do a lot of work with computers. Kind of customize the operating systems. Windows 8 was really annoying. Personally will not use it.

I dont really use TW08, but have it installed on 2 laptops both are Windows 7. The water doesnt work on both laptops, and for 07 which I use in Windows 7 can only set the water to medium, the game will not let me change it, in XP, have no problems with the water. (;in 08 I am not sure if I even have 1 custom course installed, dont know dont use it)

Dont have any online setups for the TW game, never installed that part of the game.

Lets look at your problem...

The game works playing online.
Playing the game in normal mode not online. Works? or not Works?
Playing offline LAN mode doesnt work.

Is this correct?

Have an idea, send me an email.

Everyone,

Problem solved! There is a setting in the Chrome toolbar that says, Run Chrome in Windows 8 mode. When I clicked that setting, the downloading was perfect! Thanks for the hint, Gunpowder, about the browser.

I had the same problem today with a message appearing every time I started TW08 which said that I had a compatibility problem. I played the Game yesterday and there was no trouble whatsoever.

Pat helped as usual when after trying the Compatibility tests nothing worked he mentioned maybe a Windows Update was causing the problem.

I uninstalled a recent Windows Update and everything now works fine.

For info: the problem windows update for Win8 is: KB2778344
When this update was uninstalled, TW08 worked again.

Only uninstall the update when TW08 suddenly stopped working on Win8.
On link below you will find some help how to uninstall a windows update:
