Can someone who know's better of these things, add a tutorial or ammend the TA Tutorial to help us navigate the new site that we are redirected to when trying to use the NMSS? |

+1 to that, btw i cannot download any data it times-out while trying. might want to check it's functionality before updating the tutorial. |

I messed around with it for a while but I was not able to find both overhead projections that were needed. Let me see if I can figure it out. |

It looks like if you go here:
http://viewer.nationalmap.gov/viewer/
You can zoom in without using coordinates and click where it says Download Data at the top. I don't know if we are still able to download everything we need. That's up to the experts. |

Looks like if you click on orthoimagery and elevation it might have everything you need. |

good stuff Bobby, now how did you find your course? I also noticed if you click on the Advanced tab, it lets you have a measuring tool.. |

Larry, I found it because it's 15 minutes from my house. It was the first course I saw lol.
I don't know about how to get the elevation files. There's a tab that says elevation but don't know what you get with it. Let me know what you hear Bill. |

They said....
"Thank you for contacting USGS.
In the National Map Viewer, the Data Layers displayed to the left of the map area are not relevant to downloading, selecting any of those items affect the map display only.
To download: Zoom to your area of interest, click the arrow/download link at the top right of the page, select the Download Option (either the reference area or current map extent), then a list of the available data is displayed. Choose the data and options you want and proceed with the download.
We hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact the USGS again.
USGS-Rolla, MO Office of Communications and Publishing Science Information Services 888-ASK-USGS (275-8747)

I tried this and it works. They ask for your Email and then you click add to cart (it free though). The GeoTiff is emailed to you.
Problem I still see is you cant enter your own coordinates. So we are still pretty much screwed

Why do we need to enter the coordinates though? Can't we just get the area we want in that box? |

when you have found your course, the annotation tab has a draw rectangle tool, draw a square arounf the course, name it, download the elevation and orth. i got the iamge and the ned file. what is confusing is which one to select. |

I will set up a tutorial tonight on how I did it, like JB said, there are probably more options for those that want to use coordinates. |
