I am looking for a little advice about the Pasatiempo course I am working on...I got all the major groundmoving done, it is at point of testing pins, planting, and adding bling. I did some planting, recompiled, and when I hit tee off the stupid thing just crashes, the load bar never even moves.
Now, If I compile without trees, it plays fine. if I compile with trees but without structures, it plays fine. But compile with both, and it crashes as soon as I hit tee off...I tried to lower the policount by deleting some trees and structures, but it makes no difference
I can't release the working vs I have, it has no cutt or fringe, and I haven't decreased it yet, it is no where near the level I can bring myself to settle for....any suggestions on what is causing it.
Here is the library list I am using: CdA Common Structures 10 Doral East Lake Judd's Walls_n_Stuff Kiawah Island Objects PGAX Houses 2009
Pasatiempo Textures (custom texture not on cdloads yet)
Pebble Beach Golf Links 2008
SedgefieldStructures
Test Pins (almost ready to yank these) The K Club Westchester jjholdtees pgax cars
I also attached a screenie of the course info. I'd appreciate any help anyone would have. |

Jamie I know this may sound stupid but have you installed that new library into the TW2008 game. It sounds very much like a library problem. |

Only thing I can suggest is going back to the last thing you did before it started crashing, the answer Must be their somewhere.. IE: Planting Trees I believe was the last thing you said you did before it started crashing...
Wish I could be of more help.. |

I did that, went back to last working version, all I did was set 2 more pins per hole, it crashed...I deleted a huge junk of trees, added about 20 more buffer shapes,I'll se how it goes...I am SlOWLY adding stuff...only adding what is necessary to release it lol...i haven't recompiled since I did that little work though....hopefully it will work |

make sure you have both versions of courses like Kclub installed in 08 JJ....I have screwed that up before thinking I was using the 2008 version in the CA but was really using the 2007 version which i did not have installed in TW08.

Maybe post a screen of your ca open display objects point count etc also suggest having a look in clay mode to see if there is any inverted spikes. Those can be nasty and do reek havoc. |

Judging only by the libraries you are using it seems like there may be too many non-tree structures. That is just a guess though. |

and 329 structures seems like a lot too some of those may have high poly's and can really tax a system. Try the objects first if that works, great, if not dump a ton and I do mean a ton of structures if possible (like at least 200)and try again. I have gut feeling thats way too many structures to be stable. If it works after losing that many then you knowyour going to have to do some demolition work. :) |

i deleted 36 test pins, 54 tee markers, 5 stairs, and about 30 unecessary white posts..this is what I have now that compiled (;see the attachment) I believe I also deleted the street lights
Pasatiempo has houses all around it, I hate to sacrifice them :(; Although I guess each house doesnt need a fence around it lol...i got rid of almost all the pgax cars, I think I have 4 left...i did keep about 10 carts, but maybe I should delete them as they are only visible if you look at 1st tee back towards clubhouse...I am such a perfectionist, i want it to be just like I see on google maps and bing birds eye, but I may need to tone it down for this one.
I thinned alot of bushes and flower gardens, got rid of trees that arent visible..hopefully I got rid of enough that I can get rid of creases and ready for release.
I will keep tweaking them. Maybe I better do a wide test with other people to see if it plays on their systems too when I am almost done. |

Well good luck and on the subject of using clay mode it is a great way to find seams. One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing all the work gone into a course and then have a continental shelf between the fairway and cut or even worse between the green and fringe. To me its sloppy and lazy. |

Things like carts are very high poly counts. Rob at CGX does a good job of making structures with low poly count and still look decent.

I agree glen and it is such an easu fix too...I think I am gonna lose the carts and replace a bridge, then I can lose the entire common structures lib as I deleted the tee markers anyway...kils me to lose my bling, but rather have a well made course with less bling than a blinged out mess of a course |
