Thank you Craigus, doing this for the first time with a sand texture for the base is going to be tricky to keep the triangles to a minimum... |

Does the sand texture as a base give the same problems as a water texture as a base? I've been poking around the architect while getting my head around the TA for real courses, and started an island based course, which has had a couple of issues. Most have been discussed on previous threads, but I think I have worked a way around it.
Keep us updated. |

Nope, never heard of any... I'd assume all the desert courses made here use some kind of sand or dirt texture as the base. You might want to be careful using a bunker texture, however, as that might not give you the best desert feel. |

looking very good there Axe, desert and links my kind of golf.
you might want to check out a little texture library called Gallery_Extras, has 5 great textures for desert courses a kind of rocky base with scrubby rough.

TYVM Wizards, I will get it and give it a try. TYVM Bobby, I did not know that about the bunker texture, as I was considering using that. Now I will for sure go with a sand type texture....:) |

The course is looking good Axe
I was about to mention my desert wraith/pines libraries when I read about your need for rocks/sand, but after looking at some of your later pics, you seem to have found them on your own :)
I'm trying to remember and I think I put a couple desert textures in the desert pines library that had grass blades. If you use those, be careful because the blades rendered from a long ways away. They were only meant to be used in small doses (ie. using them as a base texture could be taxing on the system)
There's always something interesting about a desert golf course... must be that contrast of bright sand and green grass...
keep up the good work |
