Woo hooooooo
I got a awesome surprise last night

Neil (;AKA Munroco) offered to make my Logo, splash screen, and a cool other surprise Ill wait until I release to say. Its very very cool, so I wont say just yet, but it made my day yesterday indeed.... :)
Thanks soooooo much for this Neil

I was worry me big time if I was going to be able to do this or not when the time came, especially with my sorry PC program skills. I was worried I wouldnt maybe get this logo, splash, stuff down for a bit, and wouldnt be able to release this course for even longer than it has been....:(; Still going to learn these things because I want to be able know it, and I could even help others too with this kind of knowledge to give back since so many have given time to us with all this cool world of TW.

Now I hope to have it released soon, but I forgot my wife as many doctors appointments at end of week, so this put a wrench in my plans somewhat, but whenever I do release my 1st course. If you have time in RL, just leave any thing in comment section you think i can improve on to become a accomplished designer like many here are. Or things that are cool so I know to try to them for players next time while making a course. Hopefully its a real course, so and I can try do it OK justice, looking forward to this chalange one day

Wooo hooo
Now I gotta go find a picture for splash screen thingy. Hmmm, this might be a hard choice choosing what will be on course FOREVER once it s there.
FOREVER is long time......... :O

Well, I got some more work to do still now after a few look at course already, but will try to get it done soon. We have many doctors appointments the next few days, so this will take much of my time up , so Ill have to try to get to this weekend if possible.

If anyone wants to take look at course to test, just let me know because any feedback is very welcome. I have much to learn still, and Im not above no one in this world. Found it best in life to listen hard to those who have walked the road you tend to walk on one day, so I have open ears to all.

When I 1st started designing, I got very very confused with how to blend a whole course together, and still dont understand it completely yet. Was scared to go over any place more than once, and didnt do this on this course, but got to now so I can fix a few things to get better performance out of her. Plus, gotta change a few things too that I had feeling wasnt cool. So I just worried about getting my playable areas work out on this course because whole course concept was confusing to me. Greens the most because greens are very important it seems to many players in game, and thats who I want to please one day with designing.

Just PM me if you want to test course, and I will figure out how to send course to you. Dont even know how to do this, but I have received a E-mailed course once
I welcome any feedback, only if you have time in RL, and no need to go out of you way to help me if busy in RL
Im still a wet noddle pretty much so I got many things to figure out still, but at least I will learn even more with all this, how to go over areas on course to fix things now wil be good to know

Thanks
Squirrely

This is an excellent free upload/download site, your file will stay there as long as someone downloads it once every 30 days, after 31 days without a download, it is deleted. After you upload to it, it gives you a download link...

Thanks a lot for info, and I will check it out later sometime this weekend if my Air-headed brain doesn't forgot

Cool
Thanks JB,
25GB for free, that sounds sweet.... WOW

Fedex,
I havent had time to get to these download sites, but I gotta do some more work on course before releasing so I could use your testing input for sure, if you have time too.....
Got some things I need to try out with it to see if i can get maybe a little better performance. Shot, I can still send you this version if ya like so you can give me any feedback ya like too do so. Then I can send you the 1st look of new textures to see what ya think of them. Just let me know, and Ill do my best to get this curse on a download site thingy

Thanks for your patience, and Ill will try to learn these downloads sites sometime in the near future.

I cant hold it in anymore
I gotta show the cool flag Neil made for me. Was going to maybe name the course Greenback Hills, but Squirrelys Nest was pulling at me hard. Neil suggested a Squirrel on Flag, and thats all she wrote. Neil made me this killer flag , and I love it. I wont mention my almost disaster with what happened the other day with Flag/Logo, I was very lucky with all that happened..... LOL

WOW
That one upload site was easily enough FEDEX.
I figured I have to read all kind of stuff to learn it, then register, but all that was needed was to just upload, and your done......
Very nice.....:)

I will PM you two the site where Zip file upload is. Hope I did things right, and I think I did it correctly, just let me know if there was any problems.

* I still have some costmic work to be done on course(thinning bushes so I can put trees in enemy looking spots on course & on some spot on top of hills where edge of course is)

* The playable part of course itself is pretty much completed close to finish product. The pot bunker on green will most likely be gone on final version on PAR 3

* Still have to find a new med rough & dp rough textures that matches other texture color on course now. Maybe a new green texture too, and would like to find PGAX roughs that fit color scheme(like the way PGAX rough/greens textures play). The new textures have to have many different cuts with libs because of certain textures will get that 65,000 total that get all funky looking (hills in bunkers especially)

* Just let me know what ya think, and I can take criticism well. I just want to get better at designing so anything you see that needs help let me know, and if ya like something let me know that too. This way I know what to do in future designing projects if possible for players to enjoy.

* It will be a week or so before I can release this course probably, but I'm going to try to get it done sooner if I can. I sure hope I can get it done by then because I'm soooooooooooo ready to start another one after this one..... :)

Thanks

Pheeewwwww weeeee......
I'm almost there, I am this time
Boy, seems like every time I think I close, something else comes up to bite me...... :P

Gotta learn that Tna file thingy to change yardage so hole have correct distance, and then pretty much it, I hope. Got even more mad respect for designers now after trying a million different textures in game to see what they look like. My right eye is the most bloodshot it's ever been from looking at a million different textures it seems......:P

Love the way the new grass looks compare to 07 ones. Much better playability & they look much sweeter too. Plus, getting enough different cuts so transparent thing didn't happen was tough too. Hopefully the color matches the PANO good enough, I searched long & hard for them to look sorta close to other ones & match PANO too............

Looking very good bud, you know, all the ini. file does is make the yardage correct on the scorecard to coincide with the scorecard of a Real course... At least that's what I understand, it has nothing to do with what yardages show up in the game.. :)

OK Axe
Didn't know this, but thanks for letting me know all that........

Have to put course down on back burner for a little bit with something that came up that needs to be done for a tour I play on........

Plus, I made huge mistake with starting from wrong save point that's going to delay this course even more yet again. After getting feedback from testers. I messed up big time, and started doing work form wrong save point where my greens, fairways, and pot bunkers walls where totally messed up behond recognition. At some point in process, I'd tried optimizing the course even more than original optimizing I did, to see how that helped with points/performance. I didn't go back to right save point when I started all that testing changes I needed to do. So all that work was lost when I went to test things after doing testing feedback work, and I saw disaster on course then. I sat there, and was sooooooooo mad at myself, and since I want to release a course soo bad. I almost just said "screw it, and I'll just go on as is" But after cooling down, I decided I'd be unhappy forever with knowing I could have had course the way I made it beforehand with just a little extra work instead of throwing all the hard-work beforehand away so easily. Especially the greens, I worked on them the most to make sure they where OK to play on, and the loss of that work would've been to much to overcome. Even though it was very painful experience, I'll just chalk it up has a huge lesson learned with designing. Growing pains I must go through to become a good designer one day too.

Oh yeah,
I'm having really hard time finding right rough texture to put on bunker sides & hill in bunker themselves. The hills are kinda funky with the way they show the rough texture, guess the angle makes them not show the cool look grass blades on flatter ground.

If anyone has suggestions as what lib would have a texture hat would match good with other textures, this would be great indeed.....:)

I tried using same has surrounding redstone rough or dp rough, but since the hill & side of buyker have high point counts. This makes transparent thingy happen when I tried using them. Plus, the fairway part that flows into bunker, fairway part seems to stand out(pop) much better when it's just a littel bit different color than hillside. Another problem is the hils & side of bunker hills have got to be different textures too or they get tranparent in a litte spot on upper left part of CA plot too....:(

Thanks
Squirrely

Pictures showing hills & bunker side I'm talking about below

Hi Squirrely,

I had a similar problem on my last course, as I used one main texture for the deep rough, but had quite a high point count due to elevation changes etc, which caused the textures to become transparent.
A couple of things I would suggest would be as follows:

1. Optimize the main texture a few %. If you check the properties, the architect will give an indication of how many points could be saved with optimizing. Then you can drop your new texture, optimize the new one, and continue on.

2. Add some different textures elsewhere away from the course, to drop the point count down on the main texture. Optimize the textures. You could put this texture on the edge or in places that aren't seen from the course, so that it doesn't take away from the look of the course.

3. Have you set a course perimeter? This will drop point count down for total size of the plot.

I'll have a think of some textures that I have seen in the courses I have played. This is how I try to fin one that I like.

Hope some of these suggestons help you out.

Mike, also remember that if you have a custom lib, that has rough 1,2 and possibly 3, that is like having 3 different textures and each ones point count would be separate from the other. Kind of like having 3 different but yet the same roughs. Therefore you could use them without getting the transparent textures. thingy. lol..:)
