Thank you Neil. It was a lot of trial and error, but I experimented with the bunkers on the first hole and after several botched bunkers, I finally got something that looked like the pics I have of the course. At least I hope they do. |

Those are looking good ,and your moving at a great pace too with making this course. Love the new dark green textures, and I personally like design lines in fairways if it fits the look of the course. After looking at these pictures, I think I'm going to attempt a lake tonight on a par 5 hole I'm about to start. Haven't tried a lake or pond since the last course I tried to make, but they really add to a courses playability & scare factor. The one in front of the green up there looks good, and your bunker work is clean with straight up lips too......

Thank you m8, You have to add the lips last, to get that look, as per Homeboy's tutorial.
And yes, go for some water, it really makes a difference, with some nice lakes and ponds, and or streams.
Good luck!

I've been testing with lake stuff today, and I can't get my water looking like your lake pictures or in other courses I've seen. Tried all kind of different water textures going back & forth for the last 3 hrs or so, but I can't get the cool looking Lilly pads or reflective water while testing it in TW 2008. Looks all light blue like, and it's not the shader settings because I have the same settings when playing other courses where the water looks nice like your water does in above pictures.
Boy, whenever I think I start making a little progress, something else comes up that just stumps the heck out of my mind.......LOL Sorry for bringing this to your thread, but I didn't know what else to do, I'm stuck.....

OK I think I have found something that might help with this problem, but not sure yet. Been trying the search function so I don't bother you designers to much , and nothing ever came up with my searches because I have been typing in questions, but I just now typed just the word WATER only. Finally some threads came up for me to read.......:) Silly me, but I've never used a search function like this before.

Ok, 2 things. First, the lily pads are in the cls folder that you have to add to your course, until then, you won't see them. 2nd, when using water on more then 1 lake or pond, you MUST only use 1 pond texture on ALL your water.
Hope this helps, let me know if you still have probs. I think smilinggoats tut on making water is the same process I use, give or take a foot or 2 for variations. If your water is not reflecting, make sure you put a couple of trees near it, it has to have something to reflect. |

OK Thanks I only had that one pond, and I'll go read whatever info I can find here in the old forums since I have somewhat learn to use the search function now. Should keep me from posting so much now so I don't take up all this forum space......
I think I'm getting somewhat better at seeing things while playing these courses especially since I took up designing. Don't know if I'm experienced enough to test things good enough for the standards needed, but I'd be happy to help out with testing if anyone needs help with this.

Squirrely, that is a very good way to learn things, by helping with testing. I think it helps you learn what to look for on your own courses. But it is always, always, recommended to have your own course tested by others. |
