Looks good there Nuttywood, and that rock work in the distance in that one picture looks very real like..... My being a new designer myself, I can understand the desire to get better at doing things. I say this because what you said with you bunker work getting better, and every time I think I got something sorta figured out, darn it, if something else doesn't come up to smack me in the head. Experience will help with many of these things, and I'm sure we will both see new designers come here after we get that experience, and go "I remember those days" then do a little chuckle remembering them while being glad they are behind us.....
Keep up the good work, and I have yet to thank you personally for the guides tutorials you made Thanks for those because I still use them to guide me with things when I get lost.

Hey Nutwood,
Those images are loooking great. I am in the middle of a course myself, also using a rock formation. They take a little time to do, but give a great look when finished. I'll post some shots soon of mine. I just need to do some planting work first beforehand.
I bet the water section took some time as well. I have done a secton of mine which I am making to be an old quarry. It was quite frustrating at times, especially if you double clicked for a point and ended up closing the shape off.
Hope to see some more shots soon.

Course looks excellent. I would mauybe reconsider using that Harbour town rough, though. It doesn't look very realistic from a distance. Other than that, great work. |

Hey cuz, Ive crossed over into golf in real life, which has consumed a bit of my design time. Im a bit sore today from a driving range marathon yesterday, so maybe Ill get some course work done.
Most of the hole work is done, but I had some optimizing that leaked over into that huge lake and left a couple creases. So, I had to sacrifice my island elevations when I re-flattened the lake. No biggie there, I can recover that in an hour or so.
Other than that, I am in self-testing mode on the hole playabilty, and I need to select some structures. I took a stab at Gmax, but that looks like a long learning curve, and I want to get this thing out there. I need to see whats up with Jimis Stonehenge II. He said something about adding some neoliths to that lib, which was something I had in mind gor this course from the start.
So its self-test, add structrures & sounds, request for outside test, and release, perhaps by the end of the month.

This one is released. Honest feedback, reviews, and ratings are welcome. I hope everyone enjoys what is now named "Olde Barrow Downs". One of my main goals with this design was to create an atmosphere of "outdoor adventure" golf, and I think I've succeeded.
I put a bunch of effort into the sound library, spending many hours searching, downloading, editing, layering, and compiling sounds.
I had a lot of fun working on this one. I stalled out for a while, but I've really gotten after it in the last couple of weeks. Big thanks to those who created the libraries, to testers, and providers of encouragement, advice and feedback. I learned some things and have some new ideas and goals for the next one. |
