Not only that, you could play all TW08 courses on 07 if you so desire.

I don't mean this offensively, but does anyone read the opening post? It is stated very clearly what I wanted, why I wanted it, and why I asked for it. From my standpoint, if it was then made for a game I can't use it in, that would seem to border on cruelty. I ask for it, it is made, but I can't use it.

Due to the fact that you cannot use the career editor. There is no doubt it is not superior if one must play the "options" they give you with the game. The career editor (as was stated in the first post) is something I could not go back to living without.

When it did come out, there was also the fact that you had to use the Course Builder from 2006. It was very obvious it was not a full product (lack of editor and career) compared to what it had been.

If I knew positively I could use the courses in 07, I would probably get it. I love the EA made courses, and there are 5 that don't exist in 2004-2007. I got tired of paying for games where I ended up with "less than" value, and if I could not use the courses in 07, I would be stuck with a game I wouldn't use. This is the first I am hearing that you can use 08 courses in 07. I tried it every year, 04 in 05, 05 in 06, 06 in 07, and it never once worked, so I assumed the same true this time.

Again, I don't mean to be argumentative at all. It is just that saying I should be grateful for people donating their time to create something I asked for but cannot use...think about how you would feel if you clearly and specifically asked for something and these circumstances happened to you. Honestly, how would you feel about it in the same situation?

As long as you own the 08 game, you should not have trouble playing the courses in 07. If someone knows different let me know, but I'm almost sure that's the case.

I wasnt going to jump into this conversation, but I just want to point out some facts (;as well as a few of my personal opinions).

1) 08 is essentially just 07 with some bug fixes (;side hill lie problem), some lighting changing and the removal of the ability to use the Career Editor.

2) It has been brought up before that since 07 and 08 courses are all made with the 06 CA that theoretically 08 courses can be played in 07. All you would have to do is install the 08 stock libraries into 07 and then load up the courses. The reason it wasnt the case in the past (;for example playing 05 courses in 04), enough changes were made between the different Course Architect programs that the courses were not backward compatible. That isnt the case here. All courses have been created with the 06 CA, just using 08 stock libraries.

3) 07 did not come with a Career Editor. It was people in this community that found that the 06 version could still be used in 07. Personally (;and this is my opinion only), the last version of the Career Editor was a pain in the rear to work with and after a while I just gave up using it. While it would be nice to have a good working Career Editor, for me it was not a deal breaker in getting 08.

4) Through the hard work of the PGAX design team, almost every single PGA tour event site has been recreated for 08. That in and of itself for me makes 08 game worth getting, even with a Career Editor (;again, just my opinion).

5) There hasnt been a new 07 course released in over 1 year (;and probably wont be another new one). There have only been a few new 06 courses released in the past year (;around 10). Almost all designers have moved to 08. If a course is asked for, that is more than likely going to be the version it is released for.

There have been many games and programs I have purchased to get something I wanted and then never used again. I bought Links2K3 after the fact when Mike Jones released Augusta just to see that course in the game one time. I have not played it since. It cost me $6.99. It was well worth it. If I did not have this version, and there was a course, even just one course that I really wanted, and i could play it in the game i really liked(in this case your 07) and all I had to do was buy the new version and use components in that version to play the course I wanted. I would hop on and order it immediately.

I do not design for 07. I do not have the game installed. I did my last 07 course over a year and a half ago. I did the first 07 release after the 08 version came out. The only reason it was a dual release was I had the course finished in 07. When 08 came out, I did a simultaneous release of both versions. Then uninstalled 07.

The 08 game is far superior in so many ways. The career editor is not part of 07. It was modded by people like us that create courses. So your 07 is inferior as well I guess. The game play is much better, the graphics are far superior, and the performance is far better. I think you are missing out if you don't try it.

This is pretty funny, 08 it worth it just for the libs.

Jim,

I like your idea. This guy doesnt really want the course for 08. Since nobody has ever really done Pinehurst#2, that would be a good course for a community project. That is just my thoughts...

I am going to get another thread going for the community project. See what interest is out there and all who want to participate. There is alot of talent over here to get in and make a really great course or two. Depending on how many people want to be a apart of the CS project team, we could even do more than 1.

One last point, it takes no talent what so ever to re-plant a course with similar trees. Besides the CLS, The only thing that makes a custom course different in 07 than 08, is the stock trees that are used. So you could actually have played this in 07, if you replanted it, you would get it how you wanted it. You can even play it in 07 with the 08 stock stuff.

I like 07 also for a few reasons. I like the course music, the stock players have better clothes. You get Sunday Tiger. I like the circle picture for the players. Plus the splash screens are better.

However the water is just horrible !!!

Which game is better ? No idea, I dont play it enough

How about Sunjah, if we just say, were sorry, but it is highly unlikely that we will be able to answer your request, per the reasons stated, and we thank you for it.

But look at the bright side, your request has spurred an idea that will possibly provide some MORE excellent courses for the community, also this will get a lot of designers together, that will clearly make us all improve our skills.

You should be proud. Also did you read this from jmeier?

If you do not want to play the 08 version, you can install all 14 stock libraries, whatever stock courses you like and put them into 07 and play there. This course when done will run ion 07, but you will need to have the stock 08 libraries that will be used into 07.

Thank you bud.

Axe.
