After all the advice and making sure I had .NET, etc installed correctly, I tried something new. (I kept getting the "bad permission" error, even though I took ownership of the folders.)
It was simple. Right click on the icon, select properties at the bottom. From there, select the "compatibility" tab and near the bottom there is something called "Privilege Level". Just check that box that says "run this program as administrator" and everything works.
As soon as I did that all my courses showed up, and installs worked perfectly.
Specs: Vista Ultimate 64bit.
Thanks for the great installer, unfortunately M$ really made a mess of things with all the permissions.

Hi,
I tried to do what you suggest - with no luck.
First of all, in the Properties dialog there is no "permissions" tab (Vista 64Bit). Secondly, when I select the "shortcut" tab, and attempt to change to run as administrator, the check box is greyed out.
What the hell am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any help!
PS. I'm frustrated!!! I can't install any courses. If you are able, please send me email at mhwinokur@hotmail.com
Thank you

Hi There,
Thank you for your response.
I am logged in as the administrator. I always log in as such. I find that when I install TWC, it doesn't allow me the ability to select "Run As Administrator" when I right click on the icon.
I will check out the url you posted, and let you know what happens. Again, thanks for the help!

Hello Again,
Well, I tried to get some results following your suggestion, to no avail. I already had UAC turned on, so I turned off, rebooted, and it still didn't work. So, I turned them back on, and rebooted. Same problem.
When I right click on the TWC icon, I should have "Run As Administrator" in the list of choices, is that correct? I don't.
What do you suggest now. I'm lost!!

I had the same problem Saxman did - "Run as administrator" in the shortcut tab is greyed out and I can't click on the icon and choose "run as administrator" because there isn't any such option.
BUT - SARmedic had the right solution anyway. You just have to work around it a little.
Open "my computer" and find the TW Caddie 08.exe file (C:/program files/CourseDownloads.com/TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64/TW Caddie 08 Vista 64.exe) Rightclick and choose properties. From there, select the "compatibility" tab and near the bottom there is something called "Privilege Level". Just check that box that says "run this program as administrator" and everything works....at least for me.
After that you should be able to start TW Caddie 08 from your icon on the desktop.

I was having fits trying to get TW Caddie to work but this thread fixed it. Here's why; if you click on the ICON properties the compatability tab will not come up. You have to click on the properties from the "Start menu". |

I hope you're not serious. It would not be a good idea to try to run a 32-bit operating system on a 64-bit machine. It would likley not run at all. I think some AMD 64 processors will do it.
I use and design custom courses on Vista 64. It will definitely work. Make you get the 64-bit version of the Caddie.

Yes, I am running a vista ultimate 64 bit operating system, The tiger woods 08 game plays just fine on it. I downloaded the twcaddie08 vista 64 bit, and am trying to install added courses, that is where my problem lies. When I run twcaddie08 vista, no courses show up on its screen. I have tried all ideas I found on this site, but to no avail. Here is the story, a new laptop I bought to go to the hospital with me for open heart surgery, which will capture me for 7 days in the bed. I need something to mess with, or complain about to keep from going nuts. Hey, I am 72 years old and don't have much patience. Please help me! |
