I don't see the issue here.
Irrespective of anything that Newegg says, as EA are not releasing it Newegg will NOT be selling it. Simple as.

Justin. You didnt upset anyone here. It was just your insistence that we all contact Newegg. There was no need for anyone to contact them because they would have received the same reply that you did. There were undoubtably hundreds of others that did contact Newegg and received the same reply you did. This was an obvious mix up between Newegg and their supplier, that was later discovered and the ad was pulled. |

Ok - back to the positive approach to this.
Many have said, and I will echo, that the Communities that play TW will find a way to continue. 08 is a great version, and the course are fantastic this year.
If we all need to continue to play on 08, then I for one would put my money towards a server to run it on. Geez, I spent $40 - $80 each year on the latest version of the game, was continualy upgrading some fiddly bit of my computer so I could run it... at a vague guess, I would think that if several hundred of us could put $20 a year towards a server - it would probably more than suffice. I am sure that, in time, some of the very talented people who are involved in the sites/ tours/ stat-keeping etc in these comunities will put together that option for us. It is quite something that we potentially have the power to continue to play this game for as long as we wish, with very little outlay of cash. And it will be ironic that, if we do find our own way to play, then EA will not see a single cent of that cash. The attitude that they have shown (to give up some profit from the pc'ers to concentrate on MORE profit from the console players) deserves no more of our money, IMHO.
Cheers,
Davy |

I can live with the TW 08 version. I think the ball physics are spectacular/graphics are still darn good and most custom courses are superb. I don't need to play for tokens and if the EA servers went down- The IP connection works fine. Its not difficult to use a browser and meet in a chat room/ group up players and pass IP #s around. It may take a cuople of extra minutes but the game will still be playable.
Anyone remember Jack 6 golf in the 90s? we played that years after it's final version was out.
Now if anyone would be willing to make a career editor so we can play the tour offline with custom courses- It'll hold me for at least a few years, perhaps more. |

That would be near or at the top of my wish list too. The TW Community has so many creative people here I would not be surprised to see something like that down the road (I hope I hope).
Oh, and the JN6 group is still going strong after all these years. New courses are still being uploaded plus a ladder group, etc. Good games never go away. Neither should TW08.

It's true they are releasing a PC version but it will be a bit later. It's expected to hit the shops in October 2017 :0)
Having played this game since 2000 I am bitterly disappointed but I guess one should move with the times.
Could someone tell me what I have to buy or what's the best thing to buy so I can have a go at 2009.
I have no idea what a PSP or a consol is....are they the same?
Would appreciate someone telling me what I should get, Make model etc |

Most of the group up there said that no 2009 version of tiger woods wouldnt be much of a loss because of the poor improvements every year for the PC version. This is true if you factor in what theyve done in the past years but think of it this way: There were still some people out there who had hope that 09 would re-include a new version of CA and CE. I know I was, Im still sad that making courses for 08 was still a little too much work for me because I love making courses which I have since 2004.
Second, maybe a year isnt enough time to greatly improve a game anymore, maybe the Ea group is taking a year off so they can finally revamp this game to our liking focusing more on customizable features. Just look at Eas new game coming out by The Sims, sim city and sim golf creator Will Wright: Spore! All it is is customization and it only is coming out for the PC because console cant handle it! I think we should make Will Wright make the next Tiger Woods game because he would know exactly what the game needs: Customization. This is all speculation of course but a young man like me can always afford to have some optimism (;at least in this category).
Thirdly, how hard would it be to make our own CA for the 08 game and to upgrade it ourselves. i have a serious passion for these games and I am hoping to minor in video game programing and design and I would definately try and learn enough to make a CA myself. I am just wondering, thats all, How hard can it be? |

Oh how I wish this true, but the market is simply over dominated by the console kid generation and that in my opinion is the bottom line.
Somebody else wanted to know about the console versions. I have TW07 for my kids PlayStation 2, the graphics are probably similar to a PSP. Overall the graphics are very poor on the PS2 compared to the PC, the game play however is very much harder. I suppose the PS3 would have graphics that may exceed the PC version.
Certain aspects of the console game are catered squarely at teenage boys, for example the ability to impact spin and affect ball flight after you have already hit the ball. Tapping certain buttons like a hyperactive chimpanzee will spin the ball. I hate this!
I also cannot trust the control sticks, you play one good round, then the next round all your shots are slicing - yes I know this is more like my real game. |

I have one simple question. Why are you playing TW08 ? TW06 has CA and CE, and it has no significant bugs. And lots of you say there's only little differences between 06 and 08.
If we all played TW06, wouldn't we all be happy? |

Admittedly I've only donated once here to the CDC community and thus I probably don't have the right to ask the questions I'm about to ask...
About the community hosting "our" own game servers... How many would foot the cost, AND allow it to be FREE for those that don't OR can't pay?
I realize that the CDC community is far from profitable... How many have actually donated AND/OR clicked on an ad with the intention of actually purchasing what was advertised? (if you click an ad just to click it, you're actually STEALING from the advertiser, they have to pay for your click)
Back to my first question... If the CDC community, or some other entity, were to host a game server for FREE, how would that be implemented? Via a patch downloaded from EA's "closed" server?
I hope that this post encourages all you fine folks to think about what we have, and how we can continue to have this (overall) wonderful gaming experience...
Be Well! Dave |

"Seems to me that Ea has gone to the dark side. Dont the console games cost more than the PC versions? I think its a money thing for them. What else is new!!! To bad though I will not buy a console just to play TW. Maybe thats what there counting on. Them and the console manufacturers. Sounds like a conspiracy to me LOL. Anyway I will enjoy it while it lasts." |
Show me any software publisher who is not in the business to make money. At the end of the day, the PC version was LOSING money for EA. If YOU were in their shoes, you would make the same decision. |

NO. Console versions sell FAR more copies than the PC versions. The PC version has been losing more money every year for EA, so they made a decision to take additional time to re-evaluate the PC market and return with a product that is better for both users and EA. Is that really "stupid"? Not in my book and if it was your money that was being lost, you would do the same thing.... |

Poor, poor advertizers. Are you suggesting we all start buying the junk they offer? Most people may not realize it, but that is just how we got into the mess we all are in right now. |
