Look guys and gals, EA is in the business of money! I have been playing TW online since 99 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I know the game will go on! The relentless efforts of the staffs at Coursedownloads and TWC are a result of the love of the game! Their talents will keep this family/community alive. I would like to personally thank every architect, administrator, moderator, and friends for giving us, such a great place to unwind, relax, share some competition, and friendship! Tee it up....and lets keep playing!!

Well said PdLegend42. I agree. Lets hope for a TW2010, but in the meantime, just enjoy what we have.

from the little that I know and from what I have read, it seems that since 2006, the PC version has been given less features, and important features, like designing courses and editing ones career have gone the way of the dinosaur.

I have played 2007 and 2008, and am disappointed at each. When I found out that custom courses can run in 2007 and 2008, that make me relax some.

But, (And I am waiting for it to arrive) I wonder if TW2006 was a better product. What makes 2007 and 2008 better than 2006?

I ordered 2006 so I can design my own courses, local ones that have disappeared due to condos, and to design courses that I learned to play on in New York and New Jersey, as well as courses Ive visited while on vacation.

But, the other thing that bothers me is the limited amount of equipment, balls (I can design a Titlelist, but will it play like one?) from what I have read, it will have the characteristics of a EA Ball.

I was hoping that in 2009, I could modify my own clubs (like in real life), play the ball that I know well from real life, and have more of a career path or goals to shoot for.

This community has given me at least the goals part. I can work my way up the leaderboard (which I am now the official lowest on it) and my goal is to get good enough to win. That is huge.

I will do what ever I can to keep this.

One other thought that was not mentioned - if EA is abandoning the PC version, will they be willing to sell their code so someone else can continue it? from the last two releases, it seems non-golfers worked on the game.

George.

hi guyz
i have e-mailed wkinsler@ea.com, with the following info.

i have been on-line since febuary. i have been playing tw sibce 04. i am disabled. i am on state benifits so cannot afford wiiz or another thing to play golf on. my pc came from a skip. i have recently bought a new graf card coz my old 1 blew up.

since, apart from 04 & 05, i have seen a slow degeneration of the quality of the game. the Change Organization is stupid. why change. evolve. build on the good and discard the indifferent. the confidence meter was deliberate, as far as i can see. what a mess that made of my game, untill i got on-line, and was told how to get round it. i get my game for my b/day in September every year, so emagin what my game was like before i got on-line in february.

i cannot get out much and playing golf (specially on-line) is my favourite pastime. Because i can remember playing 4 real. every Sunday morning 0800 tee time for years. i swear somtimes i can smell the new mown grass. not on 08 because the grafix are really bad.

plz peepz e-mail this guy and make a noise.

thankx for reading this drivel but am upset.

regard 2 PC gamerz world wide.

ta mutchly Downloads.com for enhancing my enjoyment. if i had money i would make generous donationz but i cant i can just afford the broadband every month.

MAKA NOISE PCERZ PLZ

Some of the review sites are erroneously previewing a PC version (when in fact its EAs generic ad video for all other versions).

Maybe some of the sites havent gotten the news yet lol.

Gamespot has a whole page with video for the upcoming -PC- version in their PC section.

It's been known for a long time that the software houses have been pushing toward console games only, EA being one of these. All the emails won't stop them from what they have set in concrete i'm afraid to say. I play a multitude of different online games including many FPS & Sports related games and have realized this trend of creating console ONLY based games ever since the release of xbox360. The bottom line is that wherever they can make more money they will.....At the expense of many dedicated user's out there.

Look's to me like i'll see you on the fairways in the land of xbox live.

Catchya's l8r and have a good one from the aussie outback golfer.

Well, I for one will not ever visit the fairways or any other game via a console.

Hope this is good news. As some of you know there is not going to be a PC version for TW09. But I was told that NEWEGG.COM was offering TW09 for PC, so I went there and sure enuff there it was $36.99 TW09 PC/DVD. So I contacted NEWEGG.COM support & told them that EA says they are not offering PC version for 09. Here is thier response which is authorized by them that I may post this:

Dear Valued Customer:
We have verified with the manufacture and they confirmed that they would be releasing the PC version of the game later on. That is why we currently have the item as a pre order. Unfortunately we currently have not an estimated time of arrival for this game. Please do not hesitate to contact me back for any other questions.

Sincerely,

Look guys, I have read and did tell everyone just as jeff jarvis has done. but you aren't reading my post completely. I questioned this as you do. So I did something you all are refusing to do. I contacted newegg.com to refute this and have that ad pulled and a correction ad put in its place and got this response from them. So my question is why havent the staff here or anyone out there who says its not so gone to newegg.com as I did and ask them yourself since you seem to think i'm delusional and made this up. I suppose I made up the guys name from newegg also.
Please place a copy of your emailed amswer here from newegg.com support as I did and lets see if they are different answers. I have no problem with newegg being wrong but they contacted EA before responding an answer to me. What part of that didnt you read, which should have immediately researched and asked them yourself.

Being a player still with GBC, Links 03 and PGA 2000, all are still active with new courses and surviving.

I cannot understand the mentality of expecting a new version every year, when the difference appears to be minimal and with so many fine designers producing courses, who really cares about TW09!

Cheers

the fact is most of us did not want a new version every year and are not upset there will be no TW2009,the last two versions have seen EA do very little to bring new content to the game,it was overdue that EA took timeout to think about what direction the game should go.

I see that over at Newegg they now do not give a price for the so called TW09 for PC and they have deactivated that item.

I hate to say it but I really dont know what the big suprise is here. EA is in this for one thing and one thing only and thats money. EA claims there is no money to be made by putting out a PC version. I have only EA to blame for that. Every year they put out a new version of TW it was sub par to the year before. Every year I saw numerouse posts from people that claimed they were not going to spend their hard earned money on the crap that EA was putting out. So needless to say they have fewer and fewer people buying it. I mean lets face it, they killed themselves by putting out a CA. Why spend $40 to $50 when you could buy just about any version and play whatever courses you could DL. Honestly all we get from year to year anymore is a few new courses and maybe some better graphics. I picked up 08 and it was exctly like 07 but better graphics.

The second problem EA, or us for that matter, has is the customer base itself. I understand alot of us have console games but a majority of the console gamers are kids. They dont get any helpfull insight from this group. Most PC gamers are adults and know when they are getting junk, you know, pretty much what EA has done to the TW series. I played Battlefield 2 from EA for 2 years and talk about screwing the pooch with that one. They had probably the best potential for a game ever with that title alone. Problem was instead of listeneing to the numerouse problems they had from the community they came out with senseless patches and ended up messing up the game more most of the time. THe console version.....well lets just say that EA is putting out a new Battlefield for the console and not the PC. Kids will buy anythng, adults wont. Plain and simple. EA is just another corporate giant that has one thing on their mind and thats money. Screw the loyal customer they dont make us enough money. THANKS EA!

All said and done it comes down to this, EA takes critisism as well as a 2 year old takes cough syrup. Instead of trying to fix or improve their product they are content on letting it falter until they perceive that it is no longer in their best interest to support the game anymore on certain platforms. I will not e-mail EA and ask them to bring back Tiger. I admit I love the game, but I will not get on my hands and knees and beg for another sub par effort from them. I am sorry that it has come to an end and hope they will come out with it again but I refuse to crawl to EA. They have already gotten enough of my money.

I think the only big surprise was when EA announced there would be no PC version for 09, all of us thought that it was the end of the PC version. From the latest news we have heard from EA, it is now a different story and not so surprising.
