I feel totally bashed and crushed as an edger now :( What was I thinking? Robbing all these nice people of their fun. The point is, even as an edger I am such a poor player that youd hardly notice my cheating :)) I play for fun not for winning and I dont want to keep my buddies waiting while I try to hit my ball somewhere in the vicinoity of the actual hole I am playing. Since I hardly ever win, my buddies dont mind. I think. Do they Jimbo?
Intersting topic tho.

Well, this is what I would like to see happen in the future involving advanced and expert tourneys on any tourney host sites. Have TWO seperate advanced and expert levels. One for the TSs or edgers and one for the 3-clickers. That is the only way it will ever be considered FAIR. Let the edgers edge each other to the tops of the leaderboards and the the 3-clickers hack it out. Mixing the two together is not fair at all. By being able to hit a straight shot on these two levels of play, with TS is like going out (in REAL golf) in the middle of the fairway and dropping your ball 300 yards. Then placing it 10 feet from the pin on the green. Now, would that be accepted on the PGA tour??? I dont think so. Only by the graces of God will this ever happen. Love to see the change made.

"Can I please answer that question...only the ones that have been affected by the edgers are the only ones that have bothered to respond to this thread. That is why it has stayed civilized. The edgers are responding to this thread, by being at the TOP of all the advanced and expert leaderboards week in and week out. Change all advanced and expert tourneys from here on out to 3-click, then the civilization as we know it, pertaining to this thread, will cease to exist. JMO."

i am gonna have to beg to differ there...i 3-click and am in top 6 most weeks and have 3 wins on advanced level..

I will also be willing to play you at 3-click expert you can contact me on skype: andymarkbarrell or just send a pm through here

[QUOTE=Ball Crusher]The bottom line to this gang is Links and TW both got corrupted soon after RTS and TS were introduced to golf games in 1999. Links had online money games(google paul willey) and it was because only 3 clickers were allowed to play. The sponsors of the tourneys new that RTS (Real Time Swing) and PS (Power Stroke) could give advantages to mouse movers by edging or altering the mouse. All real money tours were halted after 2001.

So. I do not play Advance or Intermediate. Being a 3clicker, Windy and tough terrains are more fun than sliding a mouse along an edge.

Fact of life: TS is the dominant swing type in TW and what was once called cheating is now completely acceptable in Advance mode. After all, life and death depends on those Ranks and 2200+ ratings! ROFL!

Stick with the people you like and have fun....besides, PC players are going to be gone from this game in about a year anyway..... TW09 for PCs is not being produced. Bye Bye EA![/QUOTE
It is interesting that you brought up Paul Willeys name because he certainly was the king of the Links 3 clickers. He and a handfull of others are primarily responsible for me abandoning online tournament play. If you have ever played the Links game on the highest skill level which is Elite as a 3 clicker, you would almost think that shooting the rounds these guys were comming up with would be an impossibility. It makes the highest level in TW seem like a walk in the park. I played in several of those early money tournaments and I would not be within 40 strokes of the winners after the four rounds of play. These guys would consistantly have four round totals of 70+ under par. I would never accuse Paul or any of the other Elite players of having cheated, but I will tell you the same names always appeared atop the leaderboard and the rest of the competitors were not even close to these four round totals that were posted. I thought that these guys were just gifted with tremendous eye to hand coordination and had attained this level of play by simply eating and sleeping this game hours on end. Then about five years ago I accidently made a startling discovery. A friend of mine had just bought a new Dell computer with what I would classify middle of the road components. He was an advid golfer but had never played PC golf. I told him that I would bring my Links game over and we would have some fun playing a few rounds of cyber golf. After installing the game onto his computer and tinkering with the skill level settings, I was astonished to discover that the swing meter speed on Elite level was the same as on the Amateur setting. Meaning that it was very slow and easy to negotiate. There was something in the way his computer was set up that caused this abnormality. The light came on for me in the sense that if there was a way to slow the swing meter down to a crawl at the Elite level, the scoring would certainly increase dramatically. There are a lot of guys that like to tweak their machines and by doing so discovered a way to alter the swing meter long before I accidently discovered that this was actually possible.

I know I am on the PGAX tour, but as a 3-clicker, not TSer. If you look at the leaderboard over there most of the leaders, if not ALL the top 10 are TSers. Its ok, I enjoy playing the 3 click method better, BUT you cannot compete at a CONSISTANT level week in and out against TSers.

And thats exactly why I have no expectations of placing in the upper echelons of this tour. Pooh, I cant argue at all with what youre saying, except to point out that some of us ( TSers ) DO NOT edge. We know wer enot going to be setting the tour afire, but we play , anyway. Why? Hell, because we love the game. I used to get sanctimonious about pure play and playing the game the way its supposed to be played, But Ive given all that up. I play because I love to play, . period. I think separating the swing types is a good idea for exactly the reason youve pointed out. Ill compete against anyone ( even 2-clkers ). I think a lot of 3-clkers have been chased from the game, or turned to cheating ( yes, there are cheats for 3-clk , too ), and the game is lessened for that.

BTW, I dont play this tour.. thought I was at PGAX for a moment.......

Im not sure if anyone else has even began to touch on the cheats that are out there for 3clickers. Swing Meters that crawl to the top and back down at the same speed. Making it so my 6 yr old can hit the green line every time on Expert.

THe 3 click cheats have hotkeys that allow players to speed up the game after they swing.

where oh where can i get these amazing aids to golf..............

actually i enjoy missing fairways and greens otherwise i would only need to carry about 4 clubs in my bag. I love having to think about how i am gonna bend the ball around that tree out of the heavy rough whilst missing the water in front of the green, it actually gives the game a true to life feel. My online golf actually mirrors my real life golf, i dont hit as many fairways as i would like but i am able to scramble well and generally get my par although i do have the occasional (actually not all that occasional) doubles and triples. I dont cheat at this or any other game as i feel you would just be cheating yourself. I have tried true swing and yes i even tried an edge (not online just in my own game) and boy was it boring. I am a 3-clicker and will remain a 3-clicker as long as my eyes still work.

see you all on the course someday soon

"its pretty simple really, as a few others have said, have a quick look opponents stats before starting a game. the obvious one is their average score, but i usually use driving accuracy as a gauge. if its upwards of 90% then i wont jump into their game.

i 3click and the last i checked mine was about 54% :-)"

That could be true at expert level, but I dont think that a 3 clicker at the advanced level having a driving accuracy of around 85% would be any indication of a cheater at all.

I would have to agree with Orbster to a point. IMO the expert and to some degree the advanced meter move too fast. I have always thought that the meter should have moved somewhere between the intermediate and the advanced level with the degree of difficulty being how precicely you stop the meter on the back and forward swing. In other words, as you moved up in difficulty the meter would have to be stopped with more percision. The way the expert level is now is just annoying to me. It makes me feel like I am doing some hurried and rushed back and forward swing.

playing Expert 3 click is just a matter of timing, after a while you dont have to watch the meter on the way down, you know when to click because you have done it so often but some days you are off and the penalty for missing the bottom line is severe.
