| Thankx man... Ill give it a go, and let you know if it worked for me. I just played Tiger and he finished +12, bogied nearly all back nine. My mother-in-law can play better than that?? |

This is the 1st year ea has locked the stock players.
However just put these files in mydoc/tw08/abilities
I am using TruBlue maxed out .plr stat...I set the .aia and .hal back in 07
Tiger will than be at max as a computer player. However he will still not be great. He usually shoots a few under up to 80. But I havent tried out the new .plr stat, maybe it will make him better.
For all the stock players you need to set there stats to right around the best possible in 07 and than copy those files in to 08. I have only done this for a few players but dont know which ones.
I usually set them pretty close to perfect and they still dont always play great.
FYI....Ernie Els in 04 was the best computer golfer I have ever seen, now he is just avg.

The stock players are NOT locked in 08. I have edited all of mine to their latest PGA TOUR stats.... |

How did you set the stock players computer player’s abilities in 08? The stock guys, Monti, Tiger, Retief, Vijay....No idea it will not let me. I am talking about Driving distance, putts per round, fairways hit that kind of stuff.
I can set custom players but not stock?
Tiger still stinks, I wonder if their is a way to make him super human, if you change his stats lower than the best possible computer stats.

Ok! this is what i did. Reinstalled TW07 for the sole purpose of changing computer players ability in TW08.
Pumped in all the stats from http://www.pgatour.com/ but with player learning switched OFF (forces player to adhear striclty to his playing stats also i believe this messes with the stats as play progresses if turned on).
Then copied all the files associated with that player from 2007 to 2008 and believe it or not Tiger is now able to Birdie Birdie Birdie!
Divot- I wish you could give us some more info on how you did this in TW08 because you appear to be the only one! |

I tried to go back in an reproduce the steps and have not figured out how I did it, but I know I did it as it took me a couple of hours to complete this. There is a thread here in this forum that describes the steps to edit the stock Golfers...... |

I was wondering what player learning does? Do it make them play better?
Like I said I maxed out the stats for the computer players abilities, and some of the players play better than others. Arnold Palmer is pretty good. Mike Weir a few years back was good.
Some of the player can play the stock courses alright but when they get to customs is were they start to play bad.
Also I was wondering if you could tranfer over Tiger Clothes in to 08. The red shirt and black pants.

Hi Hyno. I was looking back at my 2003 manual and it stated that player learning enables a computer player to learn from his mistakes thats all it says.
No mention of how finite this is so a computer player could conceivably get better and better if playing the same course over and over thus eventually performing better than the stats entered. I leave it off for consistancy.
Another thing i noticed is that once i have set my stats for a computer player then go to game face and change an item of clothing or clubs etc. It sometimes screws up the computer player stats and he ends up playing like a hack again so i have to reset the stats. This also sometimes occurs when i go back to a saved game.
I tried to get tiger to wear a red shirt and black pants but he has limited random clothing options in both 07 & 08. |
