To all designers,

No Course architect 08 (;CA08) in TW08, so you will have to use course architect 06.
To install course architect 06 on your PC you will have to install TW06 game on your PC first.
After that you will be able to install CA06.
First it is good idea to add 1 or more TW08 stock libraries to TW06 game:
You will have to use at least 1 TW08 stock library, and this way your course will be classified as TW08 custom course.
go to path below:
C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses
inside each TW08 stock course folder you will find the required stock library.
Right click on library file...and copy and paste to desktop.
When finished you will have 14 stock libraries on your desktop. Now install 1 or more TW08 stock libraries in TW06 game with CLsetup06.
Now you will be able to use TW08 stock libraries to create TW08 course with CA06.

Adding Panos:
Tw07 and TW08 created panos will work in TW08 game:
You can find panos in Library section TW07and TW08.
Dont use Panos from previous years (;TW06, TW05, TW04 etc...), they will not show up very well in game.
You will see TW07 Pano is floating in CA06(;and in TW06 game) but that is no problem, when course is compiled , pano will show up very nice in TW08 game.

Another great tool you can use is: Cloaking tool 06.
With Cloaking tool you can cloak (;disable) libraries in CA06.
(;CA06 can only handle 30 or 40 libraries, so when you have +30 libraries in TW06 game you will need the Cloaking Tool.
Note: Tw08 stock libraries are very big sized files this year, so you will have to cloak a lot of libraries.

IMPORTANT:
A new change this year is how courses are selected from within the game. All courses will now REQUIRE a logo.dds file to be present. To know how logos look in TW08 game, you can go to TW08 stock course folder, and inside you will find Logo.dds file. You can copy logo.dds file of TW08 stock course, edit the file and add it later in your TW08 custom course.
You will also have to add a text file. (;required)

Also the splash screen logo has changed in size again this year.
Please upload splash file in.TGA format (;targa), when splash is uploaded as .dds format CLsetup will give error message.
In section: Utilities....you can download TW08 splash+logo template.
Flag files remain the same as in the past and all old flags and flag templates should work with no problem.

You can download CA06 + Cloaking tool06 on this site:
Go to section: Utilities....TW06 section....Course design tools

Note: When you are using VISTA or Win7:
You can t compile course with windows vista or Win7
To compile your course you will have to use windows: XP
Or you can use: Microsoft Virtual PC

Important: please report mistakes in this Topic, so we can correct it later.

Thanks, its good toknow that we dont have to give up on our favotie hobby, lol.
One question about the course logos though. How do I copy a DDS file? The only way I know to open it is with the dxtex program in the bin folder of the LC, but that shows me just a black square. It works fine for making flags, which \i save in bmp format first. Can I just take a screenshot from the game page?

When you go to Tw08 stock course (example Pebble Beach)....inside PBL folder you will find: logo.dds

C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses\PBL
right click logo.dds file and copy and paste on desktop.
I am using program Photoshop to open .dds files.
when i right click logo.dds file on desktop i choose open file with: photoshop
See attached file below:
When opened you can edit with Photoshop.......and when finished you can add edited logo.dds file in custom course zip file. And when you installed with CLsetup it should show up in course.

I save it as logo in the appropriate map in TW08 as a dds file, but while saving I get the message alpha information will be lost and nothing shows up. When I activate the alpha channel likewise. Its a hassle to find your course when custon courses only show up as an empty field.

Hi jimi......I received your logo.dds and it is working now i believe.
(I believe there was a problem with alpha channels, i had same problem before)

You can try yourself if you want:
First copy a TW08 stock logo .dds file to your desktop.
Now go to logo you created and open with photoshop, and on top click: select....and choose: select all.
Now click: Edit.....and choose: Copy. Close Photoshop...and go to stock course logo you added on desktop and open file with photoshop. Click: edit....and choose : Paste...and your logo will appear in stock course logo. now click: File...and choose: Save as.....and save as .dds file ( and check: as copy+alpha channels.)

Hi...
First you will have to install TW06 game....after that you can download and install Course architect 06.
When installed you can find course architect on this path:

C:\Program Files\EA SPORTS\Course Architect 06\Bin

Inside the bin folder you will find the .exe file, it is called: Architect.exe
Click on Architect icon and course architect will open.
On link below you can download course architect manual:

Hi.....
Are you using Vista ?
When you are using Vista:
You can use Vista to create course, but you can t compile with vista.
When you compiled with vista you will have no trees, pano etc......
When you want to compile your course, you will have to do it with:
XP
Adding Panos:
Tw07or TW08 created panos will work in TW08 game .
You can find panos in Library section TW07+TW08
Dont use Panos from previous years (TW06, TW05, TW04 etc...), they will not show up very well in game.
You will see TW07 or TW08 Pano is floating in CA06(and TW06 game) but that is no problem, when course is compiled , pano will show up very nice in TW08 game.

On link below you can find some help about creating logos + splash ( with photoshop )

Im new to this, but really want to get involved. I have absolutely no idea what is involved in creating a course from scratch on ones computer, but know the game inside and out, know what features would make for an attractive, challenging, and realistic course, and have a tremendous amount of creativity and interest. I currently use and play 2007, and would greatly appreciate anyone who could tell me what programs or utilities I need to download or purchase in order to design courses for TW2007, and the basics as to how to go about formatting, saving, or using them. Thanks... Greeker58

read the very first post

but you will have problems using Vista
in the compiling stage of designing

most use XP or compile on a PC with XP
(ie need same CA program on both)

you could also try using an XP VPC (Virtual PC from microsoft)
basically running XP inside of Vista
