I dont have TW08 game yet....but some people tried instructions below, and they say it is working great.

IMPORTANT:
Registry is database where windows and programs (example TW game) store their data.
Always make sure that you know what you are doing when changing the registry or else just one little mistake can crash the whole system !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So it is good idea to backup your registry first.

This is how you can do it:

1) Go to desktop......Click Start...Run...type in box: Regedit ....and press OK.

2) Go to the next key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...SOFTWARE...EA SPORTS...Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 07.

3) Right click on the Courses folder. select Export. In the Save In area, select Desktop. Where it says File name:, type in: Courses.reg.

4) Repeat step 3 with the Libraries folder, naming the file: Libraries.reg.

5) Close Registy Editor

6) Go to the Courses.reg file you created on your desktop. Right click the file and select Open With ...and Choose Program: Open the file with :Notepad.

7) Click Edit...Replace. In the Find what area, type in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 07 (no quotes). In the Replace with area, type in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 (no quotes). Click Replace All. Save your file.

8) Repeat step 6-7 this time with your Libraries.reg file.

9) Dubble click Courses.reg file +Libraries.reg file on desktop....choose: Yes......and changes will be added to registry.

All courses+libraries installed in TW07 game will be installed in TW08 game now.
And the good news is: Water is looking great in TW08 .

I know its already been said but just to emphasise...............editing the windows registry can cause serious system problems and should only be done if you are competent at finding your way around a pc, always back up your registry before making any changes.

Coursedownloads cannot accept any responsibility for problems caused by the above procedure.

You should back up the registry just before you make the changes.

Hi GP,
Is this the only way that courses for 07 will work in 08 ? or is there any possibility of a course installer / jorgens being created, I only ask, as I am bound to do something wrong and mess it all up.
:) :)

An installer is being worked on as we speak...

Jorgen lost his code source in a hdd crash, so appears he can not do his this year.

Honestly is not as hard as it looks manually. Just a time consumer.. but better than nothing.

I will echo Robs comments. If you dont know what you are doing, DONT MESS WITH THE REGISTRY!!! An installer is being worked on. Dont be so impatient to try customs on 08 that you end up screwing your computer up to the point that you have to reload everything. People are going to have to be patient on this.

Note: I added step 9 in help above about editing registry:
(To finish you will have to dubble click Courses.reg + Libraries.reg file on desktop and changes will be added to registry.)
When you forget to dubble click Courses.reg+Libraries.reg file on desktop changes will not be added to registry...)

I have installed all of 07 courses into 08 without any problem just to try them out. I wont be using the older courses come Tuesday as I mostly just play tours, and there are 14 courses with the game to suffice a tour for 3 months. So it would be wise to wait on an installer if Tours are your thing.
I see new people everyday having problems using the 07 utilities and CLSetup, I dont look forward to all the questions about using the Regedit method. Things could get wacky around here quick! So all of you players that cant get a grip on using the CLSetup should wait for an automated installer.

the 07 utilities can be made to work with 08 with some editing,I`m not sure EA or HGS would give permission to change it and I dont know who to contact to ask for permission.

back to the drawing board...sorry folks..

Hi Jeff,

I saw your e-mail regarding the patched CLSetup. It may appear to work when the registry paths are changed, but there are other bits and pieces that needs to be changed as well. One is that it holds all stock library GUIDs, and if those arent changed, people may accidentally uninstall stock libs. Unfortunately I cannot make the changes since I dont have the code anymore, it was lost when my old PC had a hard drive crash a while ago, so I would really appreciate it if someone else stepped up and wrote a new tool. Sorry if this complicates things a bit, but I know the community has a wealth of knowledge, so Im sure you will have a new installer pretty soon.

Regards,
Jörgen

Gunpowder, I guess you initally forgot to tell people to run the reg files. I didnt think TW would notice a couple of files on
my desktop. Anyway, it works, and its very easy to do, if you just follow the instructions. Homemade courses need logos,
or else they wont show up in 08. You dont even see the courses name, until you click on the logo. Its a step backward.
You cant put your picture in the PC version. All the changes appear to be cosmetic. Like changing all circles, to hexagons. I guess now Ill have to find out how to put logos in my courses. Im sure Jeff Jarvis
has a tutorial somewhere. Actually, you can
still play the course, if you can guess where it is alphabetically. Having a course text file helps. There
is one small improvement. You dont have to move the cursor over the club to get its distance. The
distance the current club will hit is displayed all the time.

Maggie,

That is fine, if one can remove the stock libs from 08, you can make a back up folder and hold them elsewhere on your pc. If the program can install anything for 08, than at least we have something.

shb7772000,

I think you are going to need to create a logo.dds for each course you use in 08, the logo.dds will have to be in the course folder or some how assigned to a course.

yes well actually regarding the mentioned logo requirement

the logo is nice so that a pictorial representation appears in the list on the left handed side
the splash screen should be removed or reduced in size like the stock courses or you will find one of the settings tabs for the course conditions blocked
and if there is a course text file included in the course folder upon installationing, then you will also see that deion which most probably would also have the course name included

naturally all these items should be included before installing or manual windows registry efforts will be required, which is not that very difficult to do, but it is easy enough to do it incorrectly also

simply looking at what EA courses have and how they do it can make it so much easier for the purpose of custom courses

Is there any simple way to add a course logo to custom courses that dont have one so they can be played on 08?
