Hi Everyone,
It's my first time posting but I've been lurking around for nearly a year now!
I started playing TW08 earlier this year using a virtual machine setup (vmware) on my work laptop, since I don't have the admin rights to install programs directly. Prior to TW08, I played a lot of TW 2004 until I found this site and realized that TW08 had so many GREAT custom courses, so I made the leap.
A big THANKS to this site, and all of the AMAZING Architects and Designers out there for all of these great courses!
Anyway...I finally got a (low end) personal gaming laptop recently, with a dedicated GPU (NVIDIA RTX 4050).
As expected, the game runs MUCH smoother now and the water actually looks like real water, instead of some kind of weird looking sludge..LOL!
But something I notice is that for courses that have an on-course digital scoreboard (using libraries such as CGX Scoreboards or cjb08 E.S.B.), it doesn't display any actual text.
What I'm referring to is the electronic digital scoreboard that appears on some holes, such as the one in this screenshot, from the recent Hoakalei Country Club course:

When I run the game using the dedicated NVIDIA GPU, that on-course digital scoreboard screen is totally white.
And if I run the game using the integrated GPU (Radeon 760M), the on-course digital scoreboard screen is totally black, without any of the yellow text.
So either way, I just get a blank on-course digital scoreboard without any actual info being displayed.
The same thing happens on older courses like either one of the Royal Birkdale TW08 courses, which have these on course scoreboards quite prominently from the very first hole.
I'm running the game using the Custom Game mode, with PGA Tour atmosphere turned on, and Opponents set to PGA Tour.
I've tried a whole bunch of manual and automatic graphic settings to no avail. On a brighter note, everything else in the game appears to be rendering correctly and much better...especially the water!
Any tips on what I can try next to get these on-course digital scoreboards to work?
Thanks for any help or ideas.
P.S. - The digital scoreboards also never worked when I was running things in the virtual machine, but I didn't really have any high expectations back then, so I had never really bothered looking into it. |

Hello gts123, i have the same problem, the electronics scoareboard is not working for me.
On my previous system, a laptop on windows 10 and nvidia graphics card, the electronics scoreboard worked, but after some time it stopped working for some reason.
Now i am on a new pc with windows 11 and nvidia graphics card, and the scoreboard is not working again.
A lot of members are having the same problem, i tried all settings but didn t find a solution for it so far. |

This is only a guess on my part, but Adobe Flash used to be prevalent in a lot of software, both on the web but also in games. It's been shut down for a while now, but it was in it's heyday when Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 was released.
It's possible that they used Flash for some in-game things like the animated scoreboards. If that is the case, that would explain why many users can't get the scoreboards to work now, especially on newer computers that wouldn't have any flash on the system at all.
Again, though, that's only a guess. Even if it wasn't Flash, it is likely due to some other change in software that the game can no longer access, or some hardware issue with newer graphics cards. |
