After refreshing windows I thought how do I back up TW08 courses and players in a way so that I won't have to reinstall 1 course at a time after a windows install
Links 2003 was easy Just copy course folder to an external drive/back up After reinstalling links I simply deleted the course folder and past my back up in its place...
Could it be that easy for TW08? |

On link below you will find help how to back up your player:

But for the courses it is not so easy, you will have to reinstall all courses and libraries. The fastest way is to use the create myzip feature to reinstall the courses. Note: When you are using CLTool08 to make courses invisible in TW08, then you have to uncloack all courses before you uninstall TW08. |

Is there any way to get rid of the all prompts when installing a course? already disables warnings in course caddy Left protect on though
and seeing an option to put libraries in a dedicated folder.. in course caddie.. If I was to put library''s that was needed into the course *Name* folder so everything for that course would be in 1 folder would it work? or Is there a file in the game that lists the course to load.. ie can not just drop the course in and the game see''s it... so it Needs to add course to a list Thats what course caddie and clock tool do?
even though the game wont see it but ckock tool will and that the only way to load courses..
ps: hope your not getting tired of me yet.. I''m thinking I want to design a course... Lots more ? if I do that.. Im retired work part time at Black Berry Ridge Sartell Mn Free unlimited golf and range ;-) Would love to have that course in the game.. Its actually a pretty nice course.. I have yet to get under 90 though :\ |

Hello, the best way is to install libraries in the folder: libraries That is the normal path where caddie08 will install all libraries, and its the best way to do it. Some libraries are used by 100 or more courses. So if you install libraries in one of the courses folder, then after some time you will have loads of course folder where different libraries are installed, you will lose the overview of the installed libraries. And when you want to uninstall a course then the course folder will stay there because there are libraries installed in that folder ( used by other courses ), your TW08 directory will be a big mess after some time. When you want to reinstall that course later, then you will have extra warnings from TWCaddie that the folder of that course already exists, with the question: Do you want to install the course in the existing folder or create a new one ? It will only result in extra messages from TWCaddie08.
Yes with CLtool08 you can choose what courses will be visible in TW08, when you have for example 500 courses installed then you will have to scroll a long time to find the course you want to play. With Cloaking tool you can make for example 10 courses visible ( Uncloaked ), and the other 490 you can set to invisible ( cloacked ). The 490 invisible (cloacked) courses are still installed in TW08, but they are only set to invisible, so it will be very easy now in TW08 to select the course you want to play, since there are only 10 courses visible.
You will find help on link below:

If you want to design a course: ---------------------------------
TW08 courses are designed with Course architect 06, that means you also have to install TW06 game. And you will have to compile your course with windows xp. You can design a course on win7...8...10 but when you come to the point you have to compile your course then you have to do it on Windows xp.

OK thanks.. To be clear I think its a great idea but want to make sure it wont screw thing up
Easy reinstalling courses Always download with *Create MyZipFile button*---- so I will get all libraries for that course in that zip
Install with course caddy as normal.. Now move the libraries folder into the Course folder..
Now use cloak tool to clock *Course name* and uncloak...
Now everything for that course is in the course folder.. Now reinstalling game and course should be a snap
Install game make sure its working as it should be
Then copy course folder from backup past where it belongs/all Course now installed/ use course caddy to clock/uncloak... Stock courses & Libraries remain in default location at all times..
Would this work?

No you can t just copy and paste courses and libraries folders, that will never work. You will have to reinstall all courses and libraries with TWCaddie08 after you reionstalled TW08. When you install courses and libraries with TWCaddie08, then its not only creating folders in TW08, TWCaddie08 will also create guid numbers in the windows registry. TWCaddie08 will also add the exact path in the registry where the libraries are installed, so it will add a lot of info to the windows registry. So copy and paste won t work. Why would you move the libraries folder inside the course folder ? When you move the libraries folder ( with installed libraries inside ) inside the courses folder then the installed libraries won t be found anymore by the game.

Actually you can if there was no course caddy to do it for you The file filelist.txt lists all the files
Kinda like the TRI games evo2, MTM2 using .pod/uncompressed zip folder..
to install a track you list the path to the file file into pod.ini...
it would take a lot of work to put just 1 course in / path to every file for the course
Solution? course caddy |
