Hi Quietly,
It simply looks awesome !
I can't wait to discover your new masterpiece... (hope that it will work with TW07 !).
Once again, after the Downtown at Sylven Glen course and its moving cars, buses, waterfalls, etc..., you will make TW's History and show why, just like Rlslay with his tropical courses, you are in a world of your own...
Good luck !
P.S. By the way, do you plan to include a few stars and the moon ?

Yes I will be including the moon, it'll be part of the pano. There may or may not be stars, depends how it turns out.
I had tested out different conditions sky settings at night (ie fair versus partly cloudy versus cloudy). While they can be made to look quite dramatic at night (see pic below) there are 2 major problems that are going to force me to stick to fair and clear skies.
1. The lighting on the landscape under cloudy skies is just too dark. The 'lit-up' areas of the course don't look bright enough, in my opinion.
2. The sky is the absolute furthest back visual element in the game. Everything else gets rendered in front of it. That means whether I use the CLS to project a moon in the sky or just put a moon in the pano, it'll be placed in front of the clouds. Since clouds should always be in front of the moon, the only solution is to simply not have clouds in the sky. Or not have a moon, but I want a moon so, no clouds. |

Progress is slow but I'm about half done. One thing I really like with the night skies is the dark glassy water. It's only on 2 holes on the course but it looks nice nonetheless. |

Hi Quietly,
You are right : it really looks nice with the reflection !
I might not even need to buy a flashlight but, then again, it might be useful if my shot ends up in the rough or behind some trees...
Cheers !

Got a little side tracked today. Thought it would be fun to see what a stock course would look like if converted to fall. So I recoloured most of the trees for TPC Boston's library and went into the game... |

Technically speaking, if I recoloured all the trees for Coghill, TPC Boston, Westchester, Firestone, and K Club, that Texmod file could convert any custom course into a fall course.
That would be nice for people using stock/custom courses during the fall of their custom seasons. |

Some amazing stuff your doing within this old game. I just finished reading a thread about the CLS mods you did (are doing). I didn't understand half of it but what I did was mighty impressive. |

Thanks Neil. Much of the CLS stuff sounds complicated at first, but once you start playing around with it and experimenting a bit, it gets easier to understand how it works. And in my opinion, the extras that can be added, while not necessary to the courses themselves, really improve the atmosphere.
Speaking of adding unnecessary detail, I've added a town next to this Atlantic course. I went with architecture building styles similar to whats found in Charlottetown, the capital city of PEI. Most of the buildings are smaller 3 or 4 storey buildings. As a result I can't just use one or two rows of skyscrapers to frame that side of the course like I did with Sylven Glen or Honolulu Shores. I ended up making a small portion of a city next to the course. |

Although it may seem like a little overkill, I feel it grounds the course and makes it feel like part of a larger world. In my opinion, panos rarely blend with the plot well enough to be used as substitutes for a small amount of 'world building'. Panos only work well when adding distant mountains or distant landscape.
Either way, in this case, I'm happy with the result, even if it took an extra week or two. |

Approaching the finish line. Just have the 18th left to finish, along with final touches and completing the cls stuff. Planning to make and release a day version of the course at the same time, but that should be a relatively easy conversion of the current plot. I will also have to make an 07 version of the night course because the texmod night stuff for 08 won't likely work in 07. Fingers crossed shouldn't be too hard.
Here's what the moon looks like at night, as seen at the 16th tee. |

And finally the 11th, probably my favourite of the par 3's, mostly due to the audio visual atmosphere on the tee. |

The finish line seems to keep moving but I''ll get there eventually... I did manage to make the daytime version of the course ''fog friendly''. All my recent courses look awful in fog because any cls elements jump right out of the fog, such as building facades and the like. I managed to remember to put in the code to get rid of most things when it''s foggy out. And I added an extra bonus. In the fog setting only, you''ll get the moving lighthouse spotlight (also found on the night course) which actually looks pretty good in the fog. |
