I could do that, but I always think in terms of how things work in a custom season since thats how I use courses. The pro tees are the only ones used for that. I wish the tees could be selected.
Speaking of tournament setup, I've gone with the shaved sloped around the pond on 18 like they did in the 2008 US Open. I'm guessing they'll do the same this time around. The newly mowed turf is good and toasty so be sure to avoid the area or you risk rolling back into the pond.

Plugging away.. I can see the finish line. Refining the details as best I can. A lot of detail along the perimeter of the course is tricky but I feel its important to convey the sense of the course being in a real tangible location. |

18 in particular requires a certain amount of detail to look right. Still can't seem to get the galleries to a size I would like but it seems to be as good as I can get it. |

Hoping to release Torrey Pines tomorrow.
I made some paragliders for the 4th hole, but they don't seem to be very noticeable during the coverage in round one of this year's US Open, so I think I'll hold them back for the Farmers Insurance version of the course. There's gliders all over the place during the Farmers.

I am simply blown away by the work you are doing. You remade the galleries, awesome. The town and the tennis courts. I have no idea how you are doing these things with the CLS. You have taken an outdated game and made it new again with all the stuff you are doing aka CBS load screen and so forth.
I played Torrey Pines when I was a kid, than recorded the tournament the next year on Betamax it was called, The Shearson Lehman Hutton Andy Williams Open. They were destroying that course back than shooting like 19 under, Steve Pate won that year. I remember the greens being kind of flat and the course was not very hard when I played it. Than years later they turned it in to a US Open course with like every hole being 500 yard par 4''s. To me this was a shock to system that they turned basically an easy golf course in to a US Open course.
In 2019, Justin Rose shot 21 under but way back in 1956, Bob Rosburg shot 18 under to win. The low 72 score was Tiger in 99 and George Burns in 87 at 22 under, 266. |

I finalised the paragliders that will be visible on 3,4 and 12. They'll be included in the Farmers Insurance tourney version of the course. (tossed in a properly proportioned goodyear blimp for good measure). The course is 50% converted to Farmers tourney version... |

One last thing I'm trying to add. It'll likely get missed by most users but I thought it would be a nice detail anyways. At the pro tee of each hole there will be a caddy and golf bag for the user, as well as a caddy, golf bag and opponent golfer standing off to the side. |

I've had some issues getting all the pieces to show up together, but I think I've got it working now. Should be able to release the course later this week, barring any further setbacks. |

Sadly had to give up on the caddies/bags. Could not get them to consistantly show up... rather frustrating.
Decided to add some course marshals around a few of the tees. A small detail but it looks nice, I think. They either have a 'stay calm' sign or have their hands up controlling the gallery. (look for the bright blue shirts)
Farmers version of the course will likely be released in the next day or so. |

So my next project was going to be the North Course at Torrey, but the DEM is proving harder to work with then what I had for the South, so I've put that on hold for the moment.
I've decided to come full circle and go back to the start. The first posts in this thread were about a night-time course set in a city. I originally abandoned the night part and the rest turned into Downtown at Sylven Glen.
I'm now decided against my better judgement and am doing a full 18-hole fictional night-time course, located on Prince Edward Island (Canada). A number of their local courses use the native sand for their bunkers, which is red (salmon colour, really). |

I've added some enhanced lighting effects, mostly by using the cls to add glow to the stadium lights. I then used Texmod to recolour some of the tree textures, so there is now light, medium, and dark trees to give a sense of depth in the lighting. It should look pretty authentic when it's done (I'm about 2/3 through the front 9 right now) |
