I''m getting a lot of screen flickering after loading and starting a course on TW08. Main menu seems to be ok. Just when trying to play a course. I have Win 10, Intel HD 4400 graphics, HP 4th gen system, 64bit (enough power). Game will play, but flickering is very frustrating. I set the VRam to 526 on the graphics card, but not much help.
I have a similar setup on a laptop, and it works fine.
Any help or suggestions?

I solved my screen flickering problem for TW08 on my Inspiron Laptop (circa 2013) running Win 10.
In Compatibility Settings, I checked the box for "Disable fullscreen optimizations".
On this same laptop I cannot eliminate screen flickering (upper half) when I try to play TW07.

I also have a 2010 Dell Laptop and a 2006 Compaq Desktop that can play TW06 and TW07 and TW08 without any install or display problems. (All running Win 10). A point of interest/concern for TW players thinking about upgrading to new computers??

Interesting info Dfeld2005,thanks for sharing, it can help other members.
Some extra info:

To go to compatibility settings:

Go to the TW08 icon you start the game with, right click on the TW08 icon....and choose: Properties....and on top choose: Compatibility

In Compatibility Settings, check the box for "Disable fullscreen optimizations".

Thanks for the replies. Good suggestions. I tried it, but it didn't help any. I think I tried that before, along with a lot of other stuff also. I did notice that there was no flickering on the menus, but when the course video starts, so does the flickering. Must be something to do with a video, which I've tried about every setting. Also, my laptop is running under Vista, which I failed to mention before. Maybe that narrows it down to Win 10.
It does run, but the flickering just about drives me crazy. I appreciate your help, but still open to anything else.

It''s probably your graphics card.

I play on Vista with no issues (until Monday when my graphics card decided to quit working).

This idea does not solve your original question, but have you tried older versions of TW on your HP computer? Versions of TW from 2003-2007 (new and used) are available on Amazon, Ebay and likely at local Goodwill and Salvation Army type stores. I enjoy playing the versions from 2005 and 2006.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have 06 and 07 versions. I will load them when I get a chance. That's a good thought.

What is your vid card and driver ? nVidia cards work best along with a driver that is a
few months newer than the card. what ever the card, start with an older driver.

good luck

I loaded and tried the TW 2006 version. Same problem. Must be the video card.

Not really an expert, just relating my recent experience.
What is your frame rates on your Win 10 computer when you get into the game and the flickering starts? What is it on your Vista machine? If you don't know, there is a post on how to get that information in the forum. Gunpower61 can probably tell you exactly where it is.
Windows 10 seemed to cause high frame rates in the game for me when I made the switch. Going from Win 7 to Win 10, mine went from 30-something fps to more like 140 fps. I had to start using Dxtory program to limit the frame rates. Now, NVidia has a frame rate limiter built into it's graphic driver and I use that to set it at 35 fps max.

you can monitor the smoothness/framerates by adding the following to the TW.ini file found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\bin

So inside the bin folder you will find the the TW.ini file
Open the TW.ini file, and add at the end: framerate=1
And save the TW.ini file

It should look like this:

[TW]
Beta2.1 - 07.20.2007
framerate=1

When you are on course in TW08, use the R key to start/stop the framerate display in game (press R several times to end, it has several types of display info)

Average frame rate was from 75 - 85, and higher as things moved around.

My Vista laptop average frame rate was in the low 40's.

Another idea for member rbf to get TW08 (and TW06) running on his HP computer (with Win 10)
Your questions and the follow-up discussion inspired me to try again to resolve my similar problems running TW07 on my Inspiron Laptop (circa 2013) running Win 10.

After an hour of searching within this website, I stumbled upon a discussion of the freeware program DXWND. See this weblink:
http://www.coursedownloads.com/forum/posts.asp?post=10770&forum=32

The dxwnd software does not require any modifications to the "bin" directory of the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR install directory.

The dxwnd control panel has several edit options for resizing the startup window of the target software. After a few tries I got my TW07 to run in "almost" full screen with no flickering.

ONE WEEK LATER:
DXWND is still running great for my installation of TW07. My Inspiron Laptop (5558) is using an embedded Intel HD 5500 graphics card.

Intel Graphics have always been a problem with any HD/3D game. Sadly without an nVidia or AMD module on the motherboard the Intel graphics will most likely be a permanent problem.

Though I work in this area (video graphics/drivers) on many people's computers it's always been a problem with older or newer computers with Intel (only) graphics.

However. Someone may come along with a modification that I am not aware of.

MGolfer, would it really help to increase the dedicated vram in the Intel board? I've tried it, but I don't know if it really helps or not.

Does TW08 work better with slower frame rates?

Thanks very much for the DxWind note. I tried it and it worked great! No flickering. I even was able to enlarge the window through the upper right corner symbol, and it still worked. I'm thankful to all of you who responded to my help request. Something DID finally work.
Thanks again...
