Today, Quietly uploaded a great file:
CLS files for Moving Trains ( by: Quietly )
http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/details.asp?id=1123
He also included a 3 holes course with a preview of the moving trains. I didn t see the moving train on the first hole, but they are there on hole 2 and 3, and it looks great. Great job Quietly, the trains are looking and moving great. Attached file is the course zipfile, just install the test course in TW08 with TWCaddie08, and you will see the moving trains. See attached file below: |

I was following this topic all week and was very excited to see a live demonstration. Your creation is amazing and adds a whole new layer of wonder and play value to TW08. Thank You for your brilliant work and many hours of effort.
PS I tried to bounce a ball off a moving train car; I think it went through. Ha Ha. (This reminds me of an old PC mini golf game.) |

The first hole has a train coming towards you on the right but it starts behind the trees
Currently the ball just passes through yes. I know there should be a command to make them solid.
I realised all the train cars I made are actually in the package (all the extra dds files). The designer just has to make copies of the elements in the cls and rename the filenames with the other car files.
I may also work on passenger trains, especially some UK or Europe styled trains for the various links courses.
Designers who still have the architect files could go back and make trains appear on their old courses, since a new cls can just be added to an existing installed course by end users. |

Okay, so I've got 2 zip files for sound. Here's a zip file with an updated cls.tbf and the next post will have a sound folder zip.
The Amb_train folder has to be put in Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses\Generic\Sounds
Then just drop the new cls.tbf in the train test cls folder
I've attached a sound to the train cars on the first hole. They'll start farther away and it'll take about a minute for them to roll by but you should hear them come and go by. |

I have no programming skills. But, I like to play around with audio editing and optimizing. Just for fun here is an alternate version of your "Train_Loop" wav file. I inserted a few short segments of a steam whistle.
PS. On my system, I see the trains on holes 1, 2, 3. But I only hear the Train Loop audio on hole 1. |

I mentioned the sound was only attached to the cars on the first hole.
I figured it would be the best to hear them pass by.
As for the steam whistle, these models of locos are diesel engines so I don't imagine that they would make a steam whistle sound. |

Managed to finish the last locomotive. The BNSF paint job was tough but I managed to get it applied properly. Almost at the finish line. |

I'm close to finishing the final set of cars. I'm just taking one last shot at trying to make the cars solid so a ball bounces off.
I've managed to get an engine sound for the loco along with the click-clack sound for the cars.
The fourth hole will be the show hole. All 47 boxcar, autorack, and cargo container cars. The train is over a half mile long and doesn't even fit on the plot. |

I'm also working to throw out a smaller passenger train pack. An engine and passenger car for each of 4 railways, VIA (Canada), Amtrak (US), ScotRail (Scotland) and Eurostar (UK and Europe).
This can be of use for those with links or Euro courses, as the freight trains don't really work well there.
ScotRail is done already: |

Here's a look at the EuroStar train. That was way harder then I thought it would be. Turns out, complicated boxy things are easier to make then simple rounded things... |

How hard is it to change paint jobs on engines? |

It depends how similar the other paint job is. Whether it needs different areas mirrored.
Via and Amtrak use the same engines, so I'm hoping I can do Via quickly. The Union Pacific wasn't too hard to do after CN, but the BNSF engine was a nightmare after the much simpler CP. In that case it was the stripes that caused problems.
If you're looking to make changes of your own to a different branding, it's mostly just trial and error. The cars are simple boxes mostly, so they can be changed easily. The engines are more complicated though. |

Finally done with Via. Once again, stripes are the bain of my existence, but I managed to work through it. Will be uploading the passenger train pack later. |
