May be a Graphics card problem. Does TW2008 work on this PC in Windows 7? |

Windows 7 XP mode doesn t support 3D graphics Application Programming Interface such as DirectX. It uses an emulated graphics and not the real graphics card, it is not as strong as your real graphics card.
It is good idea to install TW08 on Win7 and not in VM XP. When you can design and compile your course in VM xp mode, then you can test your course in TW08 ( TW08 installed on win7 )
Summary: -------- once you have XP mode running then it''s pretty straight forward install your XP software And in XP mode install: TW06 CA cltool 06 clsetup 06
then tw08 stock libraries, plus any libraries for 08 course projects
once you compile a course in xp mode, then just copy/paste the tcr file back to a Win7 folder and install to tw08 as usual for testing etc ( TW08 installed on Win7 )
Not sure you need this, but also some help when you have a memory problem with Course architect:

Hi Jimbo thanks for your reply. yes tw08 works fine on windows 7 so does tw06, the problem is that when i compile the course i cannot runtw06 due to the virtual graphics and memory error, if i transfer the TCR file to windows 7 it then wont recognise, and asks to associate it wirh a default program, which i tried but no luck. i think Gunpower has the right answer, i am just goingto read his reply now. thanks again Jimbo and by the way i enjoyed playing a couple of your courses. |

So you have TW08 and TWCaddie08 installed on win7. Did you try to download a course from Coursedownloads, just to test if the installer is working correct. So is the downloaded coursefile ( .tcr )recognized by TWCaddie08, and did the downloaded course install correct ? When you can t install downloaded courses, then you will have to uninstall and reinstall TWCaddie08
When the installer is working for downloaded courses, but not for your compiled file: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Try to dubble click on the compiled coursefile ( .tcr ), and TWCaddie08 should start installing it. When still not working: When you copied and pasted the compiled course on win 7: Can you see the extension ( .tcr ) at the end ? On some systems the extensions are hidden, so when you can see the extension:
right click the compiled file, and choose: Rename.......delete the extension ( .tcr )and retype the extension .tcr at the end. |

First you have to be sure your system is set to show the extensions ( on some systems it is hidden ), some help below:

Have you named the course in the Course Architect before you compile it? |

PM me your email address and I will send you one of my .tcr files to see if you can load it on your system. Then we will know if it is your compiled course or your Windows 7 that is causing the problem. |
