Hi,

Have been having this problem for years, can't get the water in 08 to render on any computer other than the computer I have with XP on it.

Played with all the shader levels, and nothing.

Sure someone else has had this problem. On all the non XP machines only have the video card that came with the computer. The Windows 10 computer is just the intel graphics card. All the other 08 setting I can max out with the card. The water just doesn't work.

Please help...

Is this a video card issue? What is the best card to get the best graphics out of this game using HDMI outputs. Which card makes the water look the best. Or just getting water reflections.

If your game works really well on windows 10, take a screen capture and upload a water hole, please.

Just let me know what type of video card you have.

I'm using an Nvidia GTX 950 on Win 7, but it works with my win10 laptop and it has AMD integrated graphics.

This happens to be the W7 machine.I wanted to give a look of what a GTX 950 would look like. I would have to reinstall the game on my W10 (laptop) to give you a look at that. That whole system had to be reinstalled and I have never made the time to reinstall TW08 on it since I use the desktop for all my game play now.

Looking at getting a Ryzen branded system as soon as the bugs get patched and then I would, most likely be going back to W10. My CPU (i5-2400) is a little weak for my editing so I'm hoping the new Ryzen CPU's go well. Following "Tech Deals" on YT cuz he has a pretty good bead on this sort of thing.

Hiya Kelly, thanks for the reply and good luck with the future new PC.
( Note: I am using Nvidia Graphics card: GTX 760M on a laptop with Win8.1 and the water is not rendering good, it worked good on Win7 )

Gunpower61,

Wish more people would chime in on this. Guessing it is a video card compatibility issue. With the stock Intel graphics card that comes with most computers.

Looking at the pictures of the new releases and most of the courses that are released the designers do show water reflections.

Going to install TW 06, on the windows 10 machine to see if the water works correct in that game.

UPDATE: Water Works on TW06, however you can''t manually ever change the water setting above Medium. It is pretty much the same with the other games as well. In 07 and 08 the water is dead.

With TW08 on the Windows 10 machine, have a no CD patch as soon as I patch the file, the screen resolutions options change to only two settings. Neither of them fill the screen. This never happened on any of my windows 7 machines as well.

Could be a graphics card driver issue - have you tried reverting back to an older driver

Don't want to go purchase a new card and it does not work.

Since Ive tried this game on more than a few computers, and always the same issue with the water.

All the computers had one common theme, integrated graphics cards.

In Best Buy today, the guy is like to run this card you need to change your power supply, this that and this. Final price like $700+ for everything that is with install, but it will take them like 5 days. All the video cards will burn out my motherboard.

Im just thinking this an old game, it doesnt need 550 watts of power and a $200 to $500 card. I ran the game with max settings on the integrated graphics card with no problems.

I give the guy the make an model of my computer he is like it only has 200 watts of power. They had one the shelve, with the best buy tech we pulled it apart, guess what it has 350 watts of power. It had a slot for a graphics card.

We are over looking at power supplies, I am like what is that box, a video card? He is like no, wait it a minute it is, it has a price tag of $32. I am like will that burn out my mother board, he is like, no, but I cant promise you that. Than we found another card with double the mb 2048 for $42. I am like oh is this card better, he is like yea, but they are old. I am like I dont care.

So I purchased the card, PNY Geforce GT 710, 2048MB DDR 3, for $42, took it home, and installed myself, it was not easy cause of how the mother board sits. If you are not good at installing or fixing things, just pay to have someone install. I was going to pay because of the installing the power supply, didnt feel like figuring it out.

Needless to say, this entire project was guess work, cause the card could have failed and the water would still not render.

Here is the final results....On Shader level low

In my opinion that's not to bad for an on-board card, spending loads of money on a kick ass card is not for this game, I run a GTX 1060 6 gb card and it really does nothing for this game , you get the best out of big cards with modern games like this example and this game is about 25GB
