| Hi Gunpower61 these are the steps i did to install TW 08 on Windows 10.First thing i never installed Windows 10 in compatibility mode to begin with. What i did is right on the setup.exe file of TW 08 and ran it as administrator, then after installing TW O8 i added the 3 dll files D3D8.dll, D3DImm.dll and DDraw.dll inside the bin folder of Tiger Woods 08.I also added and ran the uniws screen resolution patch fix inside the bin folder too. After everything was done TW 08 fired right up without any problems.I can host on Gameranger without any problems either. By the way i always have compatibility mode turned off for TW 08 and Gameranger. So i can host games on Gameranger without any problems. Because i found out compatibility mode interferes with LAN connection. I hope this helps. |

Hi Gunpower61,
The solution 3 worked for me to run TW2008 on my Windows 10 x64 with my newest gaming laptop and a NVidia GTX 1660 Ti. After this I could apply the widescreen patch and the game runs fine in widescreen at 1920x1080.
I wonder if solution 3 also works for other TW installments like TW2006 and TW2007?

hi all
hi im thinking of buying a new laptop it comes with 32GB of ram , ive only ever done the memory fix to be able to run TW08 by dropping down from 8GB ram to 4GB ram, will dropping down from 32GB all the way down to 4GB be ok , im worried it might negate my warranty etc if it goes wrong and i still cant run TW08,if you wish to pm me instead i would be most grateful either way, thank you |

| Having an issue which makes the game unplayable. There''s a flickering cursor at the corner of the screen + my normal cursor. I can''t swing. Clicking does nothing. I can still interact with the UI however, and I can still aim. I''ve tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked. Compatibility mode, DPI scaling, resolution patches, nothing has worked. I can change the swing to two/three click, but where''s the fun in that? I don''t want to play in a VM. I''m not going to play in a VM. It''s terrible. If anyone has a fix, please let me know. I literally cannot play this game. |

Hi,
normally I can solve everything with the help of your great forum, but now I am at the end of my tether.
Up to end of Oct25 I had EVERYTHING up and running perfectly. Really everything, TW06, TW07, TW08 (from iso download), individual careers with individual golf courses, perfect graphics, no freeze, all fine. I was happy as hell and had played my 6th 36 tournament career in the meantime. The last tournament of the year usually is the American Cup. I could finish it as normal, but (as usual) the screen went black after the tournament was finished (Europe lost to US as usual) and did not return to the main menu. I faced this always in the past, but no problem , as I then anyway want to set up a new career.
I have Windows 10 Home on my laptop and a Geforce GTX 1050 Ti card with x64 system, and followed all the wonderful threads by Gunpower61 and others, so EVERYTHING worked. I used the dgVoodoo tool, the dll-files, all possible downloads and help, in order to make it work since about 4 years.
Now after career 6 was over, I created a new PGAuser-file with TW06 career editor, upload via TW07 and then playable in TW08 (as always). But the TW08 will not start anymore. I haven‘t changed any other laptop setting since end of Oct25.
When I click on the TW08-exe in bin folder (no matter if open as admin or not) the TW icon appears on the task bar (sometimes with logo sometimes no logo) and a blue small circle pops up (similar to a cursor), waiting to load teh program. But it does not. The blue circle will not go away. The start screen does not open (ES Sports logo does not come up) and all I can do is press on the left mouse key, which brings up first a black screeen and with another mouse click the error message "TW 08 doesn‘t react", and I can only close the pop up.
At the same time when I open the TW07, everything still works fine. I can play it, if I want.
But TW08 won‘t open. It always goes to freeze mode, then black screeen ,then error pop up, then close. However I don’t need to reboot the Laptop.
I played around with ALL preferences in the dgVoodoo tool (several versions), really ALL. I played around with maximum memory in start up settings, I played around with compatibility settings as well. Currently my compatibility mode setting for all TW games is UNCHECKED. TW07 still works, TW08 does not.
If I put the checkmark back in the compatibility mode (with Vista SP 2) section, it had even worse effect, because then, when opening TW08, the laptop would freeze and I cant do anything but shut it down and restart.
I have tried it now 40 to 50 times over 2 days, and have no idea anymore. I have worked also with several TW08.exe-files, either my old saved files, or the one you recommend to download.
Does anyone have the same problems recently?
I do not want to uninstall and reinstall, because I spent so much time to create all those players, installed about 200 new courses via Course Downloads and some other features. And I am not even sure that it would work with a reinstallation.
Any idea, dear Mr.Gunpower?

Hey Pat,
I just had an amazing moment, just when I was about to give up.
I concentrated on the Windows Setup, things like Antivirus, Firewall, other programs running in the background. Nothing helped. But I searched for different topics in the internet now.
The blue circle, which constantly was running and had TW08 frozen ("no reaction" in task manager), some users had the same general problem. So the problem definitely had nothing to do with the Bin-Folder you sent me.
I searched further, and googled "Tiger Woods 2008 doesn''''t react anymore". I came across this (German) site:

In Tiger Woods 08 gibt es einen bekannten Bug. Leider aber von EA keinen Patch dafuer. Ladet euer Game die Kurse von Tag zu Tag langsamer? Und es dauert ewig bis die einzelnen Loecher laden? Dieser Bug ist dafuer verantwortlich. Hier eine kurze Anleitung wie ihr das wieder reparieren koennt:
1. Geht nach Eigene Dateien\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Euer Spieler\Confidence
2. Dort findet ihr ein File mit dem Namen HoleType.tcn. Dieses File ist verantwortlich fuer eure schlechte Performance! Es sollte nicht groesser als ein paar KB sein.
3. Ihr loescht dieses File einfach und startet das Spiel.
4. Spielt ein Loch offline und TW generiert das File neu.
5. Schliesst das Spiel wieder und geht zurück in den Ordner Eigene Dateien\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Euer Spieler\Confidence
6. Jetzt hat das File nur noch ein paar KB!
7. Klickt HoleType.tcn mit rechter Maustaste und setzt es schreibgeschuetzt.
8. Problem geloest, keine langen Ladezeiten mehr.
You can run it thru a translator. In short what it says:
The delay is caused by the file "Hole Type.tcn", which lies in the Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\#MY PLAYER#\Confidence folder.
So not in the program/bin folder. This tcn-file should only have a small amount of size. Mine had in deed 1900 KB (huge!), and last time it was changed, was on October 29th. 2025, which matched perfectly the time, TW08 didnt load anymore.
I deleted it, used your Bin-Folder-setup, and HALLELUJA, TW08 started again!!!
The Hole Type.tcn will get generated again after playing just one hole.
Good lord.
I wanted to share this with you and everyone. The user says, this is a common known bug of TW08. Well, maybe this file gets bigger and bigger over time (remember, I had played already 6 careers) and then it inevitably will cause the problem one day.
