Hi folks. New member. Not new to TW08 but just discovered the Caddy program, which is fantastic. Read the forums, etc, before attempting to download and install the program and a course. The directions were very straightforward and went without a hitch. I downloaded and ran Royal Troon and Cypress Point...cudos to the creators BTW. However, when playing Cypress Point it sometimes freezes, giving me half of my desktop screen and the other half totally black. I get the error "TW08 has encountered a problem and needs to close", etc. My PC, vid card, etc, are all up to snuff and I've never encountered a problem with TW08. Any suggestions? Royal Troon seems to play just fine. I'm totally new to this whole program but would love to see it run error free. Thanx in advance.

Hi...

Maybe you can try to turn down the graphics options in TW08.
Start TW08....options...graphics...and set slider a bit more to: Best performance

or try to switch to: manual settings....and turn down a few options.

Also don t forget to do the Confidence folder fix:
When you start playing TW08 game, it is important to know there is a bug in the game:
When you played some courses you will see the loading times between holes are increasing, the game will become slower and slower.
Do next steps to solve the problem:

On desktop you will see folder: My documents........
inside look for: Tiger woods PGA tour 2008....and inside go to folder: Career.
Inside Career go to folder: Players.......and inside look for your playersname folder.
Now you will see folder: Confidence.....and inside you will find files:
Hole Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn
Now right click both files ( hole.tcn +Shot type.tcn) and delete both files.
When you did this: restart TW08 game and play 1 hole on any stock course and close TW08 game.
Go back to same confidence folder and you will see both files are regenerated: but now they are very small size ( 85kb or something like that) Now right click both files ( Type.tcn......and.....Shot type.tcn) and choose : Properties....and check box: READ ONLY. Do this for both files.

Thanks for the reply gunpower61. I did the file delete and properties change some time ago so they're still like 35K and 1K respectively. I seem to recall having to turn down the graphics, restart and reset once before...when I lost my wind meter perhaps? Nowadays its hard to even remember what I had for breakfast. I will play with the graphics...sounds like a viable fix. Thanks again.

I'm running a Dell Optiplex 620 desktop, dual core @3391Mhz. XP Pro SP3, iGB Ram. Running a Radeon HD4650 graphics card with 512 MB...low profile card.

1 GB ram is a tad low for many of the detailed custom courses coming out. The 4650 also is borderline for richly detailed courses the xx70 cards are the ones to look for when considering playing graphics intensive games. The 4650 was discontinued a while back for performance reasons.

All the TWCaddie does is copies files to a specific location and makes a registry entry with the GUID and file system location for the course/library being installed. It has zero impact on how the game operates from a performance standpoint. The fact that the course does load indicates the TWCaddie program worked correctly.
