Is there a problem with TWCaddie 08 and the clambakers tour launcher? A friend of mine downloaded a myZip file and installed it with TWCaddie. The course shows up fine and plays fine when playing the game without the launcher. When letting the clambakers launcher start the game, and choosing a lan game, the couse does not show up in the course selection page.
I used TWCaddie to install the same course and it worked fine for me on the clambakers tour.
Someone had posted in the clambakers forum that the problem may be connected with TWCaddie, so I decided to come straight to you for an answer. (I TOLD you my buddy would find a way to mess it up! LOL)
Both of us are using 32bit Vista operating systems. |

| Wierd....Cant say that I even begin to understand this one. When I tested what you just told me, I did get a Windows Firewall error, but the course did show up in the list. |

Yeah it is strange. I installed the same course with TW Caddie and it worked fine for me.
There DOES seem to be some sort of problem with TW Caddie and the Clambakers Launcher program. There has been three seperate users post messages about the same problem over on the Clambakers forum. The latest one states the only way he was able to solve the problem was to uninstall every course he had installed with TW Caddie and re-install them with CLsetup. Simply unistalling the course in question did not solve the problem.
This is a quote from a different user on Clambakers: I have figured out what the problem was. I installed the course with that new installer and remembered that JB had told me that it changes files around. So I uninstalled and reinstalled using CLsetup 08 and now all is fine with the world.
Is it possible that changes files around has something to do with it? |

Im really not sure....if that was the case then it wouldnt work for anyone who uses Clambakers launcher. Hard to debug things that make no sence what so ever. And it makes no sence to me why it would show up while using one setting to start the game and not with another. What makes it twice as hard to figure out is I cant recreate the problem no matter what I try. What I mean is no matter what I do I cant get a course to not show up in the game. The re-naming of files while being installed would have nothing to do with it, since the courses are showing up unless they use Clambakers launcher.
If anyone who is having the proble wants to test a theory for me, in the registry the program adds in-house to the course which Clsetup does not, if they delete that key does it run fine.
The only way Ive been able to recreate a course not showing is to have TW08 running ALT+TAB out of the program install a course and then go back into the game. That is one of the things that I didnt add that clsetup had was to see if the game is running before installing.
I wont deny it some of the problems people are having are frustrating to say the least I want everyone to be able to enjoy the game and all of the add on courses. Its quite easy to debug something if I can either recreate it or everyone is having the problem or theres an error associated with it. |
