Hi all! I just recently installed TW08 and can't believe how difficult it is to install custom courses (no idea what EA was thinking here when older golf games such as GBC make it a breeze to add custom courses, and PGA 2000, which used pretty much the same setup as TW08 and was also easy as could be to figure out).
I have installed the Caddie 64 bit version. I'm on Windows 8. I understand how to run the program in Admin mode. All the stock courses and libraries are listed fine. I cannot download a MyZip file because of th 15mb limit, so I have downloaded Pasatiempo and it's associated libraries separately. I have unzipped the course files (the folder is named "pas test") into the "Courses" folder. I have unzipped the libraries into the "Libraries" folder.
I go into the "Courses" folder and double-click on the Pasatiempo.tcr file, the Caddie opens and the course starts to load. About 3 quarters through this process it stops and I get this message:
"Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
"Access to the path C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08\Courses\Pasatiempo Golf Club by JJHold' is denied."
If I click "Continue" then the Caddie just freezes and I have to close it through the task manager. If I click "Quit" it does just that, which obviously isn't any good either.
I decided to try double clicking on one of the library files thinking that maybe those had to be installed first, but nothing happens at all when I do that.
I have poured through this forum for two days now and read every single post in this section. I've read and reread the Help File included with the Caddie, but I cannot solve this. The game is great, but without the ability to play custom courses I can't see any point in sticking with it, and I'll just go back to GBC or Custom Play. However, I would really like to stick with TW, which is more challenging than the other two (looks better, too).
All of my Caddie Settings are the default settings, with the exception of the Default Course Download Directory.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Any help would be massively appreciated. |

First be sure to use the correct version of TWCaddie08 ( 32bit or 64bit ) How can you find out you have a 32 bit or 64 bit system:
1.Touch or click on System and Security within Control Panel.
Note: You wont see a System and Security link in Control Panel if your view is set to either Large icons or Small icons. If so, find System and touch or click on it, then skip to Step 3.
2.With the System and Security window now open, click or touch System.
3.With the System applet now open, titled View basic information about your computer, find the System area, located under the large Windows 8 logo.
The System type will say either 64-bit Operating System or 32-bit Operating System.
When you found out go to TWCaddie08 download page on link below:
http://www.coursedownloads.com/extras/category.asp?id=1&gameid=11
On that page you will see 2 download links:
when you have win8 32bit.... download this one: TW Caddie 08 v1.5
when you have win8 64bit... download this one: TW Caddie 08 x64 Beta
After you downloaded TWCaddie08 to your PC: Extract or unzip the downloaded zipfile, and dubble click: setup.exe....and TWCaddie08 will be installed on your system.
Now on desktop right click the TWCaddie08 icon.....choose: Properties....compatibility...and check box: Run as administrator...and click: Apply
Option: When you don t have the icon on your desktop, you can also go to: C:\Program Files\CourseDownloads.com\TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64 And you can do the administrator thing on the TWCaddie08 icon you will find there. |

In your post you said you unzipped or extracted the downloaded courses and libraries. Never unzip or extract the downloaded courses and libraries, TWCaddie08 can handle the zipfiles!!!!!
This is how you can install courses without the Create Myzip feature: You will have to download the required libraries separate ( without the myzip feature ). Go to the course that you want to download.....on right side you will see a list of required libraries. The libraries with a red X are libraries you didn t download before. Click one a library (librarytext) with a red X, and download it to a location on your PC, for example download it to a folder on your desktop. Do the same for allother libraries that are marked with red X. After that on your desktop open TWCaddie08....and choose: Install On next popup screen you will have to browse to the downloaded libraries zipfiles. When you found one dubble click it and TWCaddie08 will install it in TW08. Do this with all libraries you downloaded separate.
After that on the coursedownloads page, left side you will see the course download link: Coursedownloads.net Dubble click it, and download the coursefile to your pc, and also install it with TWCAddie08, same way as you installed the libraries
Note: I also sent you a message to your personal mail address, with some help inside. |

Cha-ching!!!!
I was doing two things wrongs. When I first ran the Caddie I ran it as an administrator, but after closing the program it reset to the default setting, so each time after that it wasn't running as an administrator. I just got Windows 8 and didn't realize I had to do it differently to get it stay set as an adminstrator. I figured that out, then took your advice about not unzipping the files, and then it all ran perfect. Course installed!
Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. |

The fastest way to install courses that are not myzip is to either rename them or just drag and drop the zip files into caddie you want to install. |
