if the game plays fine for short periods then it sounds like you pc can run the graphics ok....so sounds like more of a overheating problem? have you got good cooling? is your pc covered in dust etc inside? as re-booting would help the pc cool down but then after so many holes it would heat up again....i fitted a after market cooler to my graphics card and it made an awesome differance.....just a thought. gl.

im no expert but the same happened to me 9 holes fine 18 lag increased and getting booted 2-3 holes from finish i found that i just didnt have enough grunt in my pc but u have to make sure all your drivers are updated but i got a new pc(not just for this game). with 5 times the power of my old one and i have never had the same problems again so without knowing your specs i would say that you need to turn everything down to low on the graphic options in the game and see if that makes a difference
