I have downloaded at least 20 more stock files and many more libraries into my Tiger Woods 2005 game. I have burned all the download files to a CD-R disk. But I was thinking, what if my PC crashes and I must reformat my hard drive or simply install a new hard drive? What then? Oh sure I can copy and paste each and every file individually back into my TW 2005 game once again. But that would take hours.
Isn t there a better way, where I could copy all the present files that are in the TW 2005 courses and the Libraries on a CD. But what folders in TW 05 do you have to copy, so all you have to do is copy and paste them back in again after you re install TW 2005?

To be honest there isnt a really easy way, but I can give you a couple of tips. These involve exporting part of your Windows registry and burning those files to your CD.
1) Click Start, then Run. Type in regedit. 2) Once the Registry Editor is up, browse to the following area: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/EA SPORTS/Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 3) Expand the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 branch. You will see 2 branches that you will need to export. The first is Courses, the other Libraries. 4) Click 1 time on the Courses branch to highlight it. Then select File, then Export. Export the branch to an REG file somewhere that you can easily find it. 5) Repeat the above process for the Libraries branch. 6) To set up your CD, the easiest way to do it is to just burn your courses and libraries in the exact structure that they are on your hard drive. So for instance if you have a folder called Courses with subfolders for each of your courses, just burn that entire Courses folder to your CD. Same thing for your librarires. Dont forget to burn the 2 REG files as well.
Now if you ever have to reinstall, you would first do a full install of TW2005. Then you would copy the Courses and Libraries folders from your CD to your hard drive in the same place that you have them now. Once everything is copied, go to your CD and double click on each of the REG files. This will enter data about where your courses and libraries are into the Windows registry. Thats it.
As I said it isnt an easy process, but it does work. |

The only reason I mentioned doing the registry exporting is because delvanis was looking for the quickest way to load everything back. It sounded like he didnt want to have to go through reloading all of the courses/libraries using the CLSetup or Course Utilities program. The only way to do it without using one of those programs is to do a registry export. Those registry entries tell Windows where the courses are located, what txt file is used for the course text, what file is used for the splash screen, etc. Without those registry entries (which both the CLSetup and Course Utilities programs create when the course or library is installed), the course or library will not be shown as installed. |
