I have not been able to get any world rankings for myself or for other players for quite a while. Is it just me or has this been discontinued or is it being revamped? I enjoy those rankings very much and would like to see them.

We are in the process of revamping the rankings...in all honestly however the overall support of the rankings was very low before we started revamping them which is why we are in no big hurry to finish them.

It just seems strange that the World Ranking System has no rankings.

Ill admit, Ive dropped the ball on the World Rankings over the years. Id spend months working on new formulas then release them and see that maybe 5 people were interested. Consequently, my interest in keeping them going would ceise. They were a novel concept back in TW 99-2k1 but with the way the TW series online play has evolved it has been difficult to rekindle that magic. I mean, lately it seems like Tokens are how greatness is measured.

The Live Leaderboard system does give us an opportunity to do some neat stuff down the road. But thats down the road and who knows what sort of curve balls EASO will throw at us for migrating these systems to 2k6.

Speaking of migration. This has been a chief issue for us with every iteration of the TW series. With each game comes a new set of features and for every new feature something else is taken away. October through December usually consists of us scrambling to find these changes and adapting.

In a nutshell, we could dedicate the next 3 months building a ranking system and when 2k6 comes out we may have to reinvent the wheel all over again. This happened to us 3 straight years between 2k1 and 2k4. I hope you see our delima.

Futile is the best way to describe our efforts when it comes to the World Rankings.

It still tracks their tour-wide stats. Its just the rankings are they only thing not being updated.

Even a simple formula might be applicable. Perhaps take like the last 15 or 20 tournaments a player has participated in with the player getting a point for each player they finish ahead of. Or maybe take a time period of 1 or 2 months and total up the points the same way. In that example, the more tournaments you play the more points you will amass. I can see how the top 5% may argue about their ranks, but for the other 95%, of which I am one, it gives a guage of how we are doing.
