The NDA for the TW2005 beta test team has been lifted. Tru and I from here at WRS were both on the beta test team and we would be more than happy to answer any questions (at least to the best of our ability) that are posted. The courses that were part of the beta test are now listed on the web site along with pictures from each course. There are 10 pictures for each course along with the course splash screen.

My big question: is there a new architect?

Yes and no. Yes, there will be a course architect for the game. No, it will not ship with the game. That is what we know at this point. from what we have heard, the CA will be released as a seperate download after the game is released (late September/early October).

Personally I think they do look better. I have gone back and tried several 04 courses in 05 and I think they all look and play better in 05 than they did in 04. I have actually played a couple of the 04 stock courses more in 05 than I ever did in 04.

NOT SURE, the only version I saw of any CA was in the early stages of testing and it was the exact same one we had back in 2002, the last 3 versions of the game we got did not include an CA at all so will it be improved, Id say anythings an improvement over not having one at all...But not to worry you can still use the 2004 architect to create courses....BUT keep in mind we have stil not worked out anything with EA in terms of hosting the libraries from 2004.

That sounds like a bad CD. Ususally a CRC error is an indication of a problem with the CD. Unfortunately you may need to take it back to where you got it and exchange it for a new copy.

I have TW2k5.

Im still struggling with file structure.
Can I pollenate with my tw2k4 courses?
Where to install the old libraries in the new game?

Ive always struggled with the file structure of this game. If my 2k4 courses and libs can be used for 2k5 it seems like a major hassle to organize and install all of the old libs and courses. Perhaps it isnt possible?

You can indeed install all of your 2004 libraries and courses in 2005. In my opinion they actually play better in 05. As for how to arrange the libraries and such, it doesnt matter where they are installed as long as the Course Utilities program knows where to find them. I will tell you how I do things every year. I go into the Courses folder, Architect Libraries subfolder. from there I set up several folders for my libraries. I have folders named 2004 Stock, 2004 Custom, 2003 Stock, 2003 Custom, 2002 Stock, 2002 Custom. I copy all of my libraries into their appropriate folders, including copying each 2004 stock library into its folder. Then using the Course Utilities program, I install all of the libraries at one time (you can select multiple libraries at one time in the program and install all at once rather than one by one). Once the libraries are installed, I copy the stock courses over from 2004 into that Courses folder and I install them using the CU program.

It may sound like a lot of steps, but it really isnt. And this is only done ONE time. When I am done I have all of my libraries set up and I can play any 2003 or 2004 course in 2005 just by installing it. Everything is organized and structured.

Part of the confusion right now may be from those that are used to using Jorgens installer and havent used the Course Utilities program before. Jorgen will probably put out an 05 version of his installer, but until he does you are stuck using the Course Utilities program that came with the game to install your courses and libraries. If you need help with how to use the program, go to our FAQ forum and look at the topic on how to install courses/libraries. There is info in there.

For those receiving the CRC errors, are you using XP as your operating system? If so, are you logged in as an Administrator? It still sounds like those CDs may be bad and may need to be replaced. It has been my experience that a CRC data error indicates a bad CD.

Maybe it is a problem with some of the files that are installed in the My Documents folder. When you uninstalled 05, did it also delete the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 folder that is in the My Documents folder? If not, that might be where the problem lies. Do an uninstall and see if that folder is still there. If so, delete it and then try to do a reinstall.
