Heck, cant even finish 9 holes. Usually Im very clever about solving problems like this for my flight sims, but Im stumped. Ive also used the search function but have not turned up any new ideas. Ive tried the newes Vid drivers and the oldest Vid drivers I can find...no joy. Ive also tried turning down all of the graphics on my 3 gig pentium for this game, doesnt solve anything.

3 Gig Pent.
1 Gig Ram
2 Raid HD
6800 Series GeForce NVidia
currently trying the 6085 drivers

Im assuming you are referring to TW2004, although that may be a bad assumption. You didnt mention what game you were having trouble with.

All I can tell you are the same things that we mention to everyone that is having problems with crashes to the desktop:

1) Make sure you have update the video drivers for your video card.
2) Make sure you have installed the version 1.1 patch for the game, available at the EA Sports web site.
3) Make sure you have EVERY library that is needed for the course you are trying to play installed, including the stock libraries that come with the game.
4) Make sure you change your graphics setting from Auto to Manual.
5) Make sure you turn OFF animated galleries.
6) If these do not work, try a full UNINSTALL and REINSTALL of the game. Again, make sure to PATCH the game to version 1.1 after the reinstall.

These are the only things we can tell you. We did not code the game and we didnt create the courses. Yet people seem to be getting more and more upset with us when we can instantly come up with solutions to each problem they have with a course. Well, we can only do so much. These tips are things that we found out by troubleshooting problems in the past and they are all we can really tell you to do. If these do not work, my suggestion would be to contact EA Sports directly for technical assistance. They put the game out and there are people there that get paid to do technical support for their games.

Thanks, I realize you arent the official support for the game, no worries. Ive re-read your paragraph on crash fixes for TW2k4 many, many times before this. None of them work which is why I was whistling in the dark here on this forum. It must be a sound and vid card driver issue still, or the game must be buggy as hell. Thanks for taking the time.

Smokin,

Test your memory.

Last time I saw this happen it was due to the higher end of the memory being knackered. Tiger was running well until the game started to really fill up the memory and when it hit the bad part, BAM the game crashed. Until that point the game ran like normal.

Try this program...

Dave.

Hi all, and thanks. This system is like only 4 days old but when I got it no decent sound cards were available and I had them put in a sound blaster live 6.1 until I could find an SoundBlaster Audgy Gamer. What do you guys think about this crappy sound card limiting the game? Other than that I have no clue. Also, my memory is 1024 of RAM. Ive never had probs like this before and honestly my flight sim crashes also SFP1. I know so many people play this title successfully otherwise how would anyone ever design and release a course? Something in my system just doesnt cut it.

p.s. Im an experienced gamer FWIW, so Im usually adept at this kind of stuff...

I agree with Blader, it may be bad memory. Regardless of the 1024MB of Ram, if one spot of it is bad, this can happen. If you have access to a similar stick of RAM to swap out (good luck) then swap it out and see if it changes. Also, make sure your DirectX drivers are set correctly (since your a gamer they probably are). You can also try to roll back to an older version of your graphics driver. I dont think the sound is the problem, but it may be. Make sure you have the actual game patch as well.

People do have problems with the game usually with custom courses though. Is this happening on stock courses/custom or both?

Well....Im back. It had nothing to do with memory. I had my techie reverse the Raid controllers and now it works and plays great, max everything. This trick also improved and stabilized my flight sims. Computers are too weird sometimes. Anyhow, thanks for the ideas. What a fabulous game, I love it. Only thing I dont like about it now is my lousy 56k which inhibits my download productivity.
