| Hello, compiling course files in Windows 7, is there a fix yet?. Some one out there should have a answer on a fix to have the 5, or 6 course designer to be able to compile courses. Thanks. |

perhaps those 5 or 6 designers should compile in XP or XP Mode in Win7 like the rest do ?
how can you fix a 7 yr old software program tha hasn't been updated in that time? |

| In other words there is not a fix yet, so designers can only design with xp. |

not sure where the idea there ever would be a fix comes from
the software was designed in 2004-2006 and abandoned once the company was absorbed by EASports
think the design aspect works in win7, just not the compiling
doesnt seem to be stopping anyone from designing though
|

| If you can not compile a course in Windows 7 you can not play it in Tiger woods. In Windows XP you can compile a course and play it. |

Not sure I am following your logic at all. You CAN design in Win 7. You just CANNOT compile in Win 7. You MUST compile in XP or in XP mode inside of Win 7. What OS was used to design the course has no effect on whether it will play in Win 7. If the course is compiled properly, it will play in Win 7 as long as TW works properly in Win 7.
As JB said, there will not be any sort of fix that enables compiling in Win 7. We are lucky that we can even make courses at all. We are using a program that EA dropped back in 2006, over 6 years ago. Techniques have been developed for how to use the CA to make courses for TW08 and those have to be followed. You either compile in XP or in XP mode in Win 7. That is it. |

| You have to have either the Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise version of Windows 7. XP Mode is not available for the Home version of Windows 7. You would need to download both XP Mode and Virtual PC, which are separate downloads from the Microsoft site. Do a Google search for Windows 7 XP Mode and you will get more information. |

another option some use is keep a relic PC with XP on it solely for compiling
(and if networked to your win7 PC, then quite easy to move the compiled file - the .tcr - around)
or can always dual boot a different hdd with XP on it |

I designed every course I have on windows 7...you can compile it on windows seven if you do so without the tree and shrub setting being checked....I do this after working on each hole to see if it is right...I then have a mini laptop that has xp on it, i use a flash drive to copy the file and compile with trees every so often, but if i compile a course 50 times while working on it, only about 10 are on xp because for general look-see who needs the trees lol

I use VM Ware Workstation running XP from within Win 7 x64
I find it runs way quicker than Microsoft's XP Mode |

| I haven't checked the Tree box setting when compiling for a couple of years now, you don't need to with 08.. I use winxp and you don't get the radioactive trees like in earlier years.. Just a note.. It does make compiling a little faster... |

While u mention the tree lightning option in Architect Axe i found that compiling with it
makes no difference with the trees + compiling with it sometimes causes crashes on courses.
I had problems with 1 course had to take it off site because of crashes.I compiled
without the tree lightning course worked fine no more crashes. |

| That's what I meant Stylar, I haven't compiled with the tree lighting box checked for some time now and there are no problems, just speeds things up a little and after 100's of saves, the time saved does add up... |

I should be a little clearer after looking more closely at the compiling box..
I DO leave the box checked that say's Trees and Bushes but I DON'T check the box that say's Tree Lighting..
All good...
