Recently we have had a couple of courses released by architects that were intended for play in TW08, but cannot be classified that way on our site. I wanted to take a moment to go over with architects how we classify courses.

Since TW2002 came out, our site has classified courses the same way. They are classified by the latest version of STOCK TW libraries that are used. So for example, if you create a course and you use 2 TW2006 stock libraries and 4 TW2005 stock libraries, the course would be classified as a TW2006 course. It does not matter if you use user-created libraries from this site that are listed as TW07 or TW08 libraries. The course would still be listed as a TW2006 course because of the STOCK libraries used.

If you are releasing courses for TW08, you need to make sure that at least 1 TW08 stock library is used. If you only use TW2006 stock libraries, the course will be reclassified by our staff prior to approval as a TW2006 course. It will also contain a staff comment in your comments area similar to the one below:

Staff Comment: Even though this course uses several 08 user created libraries, it does not use any TW08 stock libraries. It only uses TW2006 stock libraries, therefore it has been reclassified as a TW2006 course. In order for this course to be listed as a TW08 course it would need to use at least 1 TW08 stock library. If users install all of the TW2006 stock libraries this course is playable in TW08.

That means all you have to do is put in 1 tree or one small texture area anywhere from a stock 08 library if you want the course to be an 08 course.

Exactly!

Although I will say if your intent is for 08 players to play your course it is best to use all 08 stocks and no 2006 ones at all. The lighting is different between 2006 and 08 and the stock 06 libraries will show very bright, lime green textures. It is best to use the stock libraries from the game that you want to release for.

Okay, how about this - say you make a links course, and you use no stock libraries at all since your course has no trees or objects needed from any stock libraries. The course is only made up of user created libraries, but made to run in TW08. How does that get classified.

I think I need something to do - lol.
