I recently reinstalled TW08 on my Windows 7 64 bit, and everything went smooth. The game itself runs and plays good. The additional courses I download from here install correctly and run smoothly.

I have only one issue, and it's a major one at that:
One course (an addon, not a default one) keeps showing up in the PGA Tour mode, even though I thought I deleted it.
Without naming the course in question, I downloaded and played it, and decided I didn't like it. I then deleted it from my TW08 "Courses" folder located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses.

I started my PGA Tour mode AFTER I downloaded and installed this course. Maybe that was a mistake?

The problem is, that when I go back to 'PGA Tour' mode every time, there it is. It keeps coming up and I have to skip events. I went 2+ years in skipping events, and it still keeps coming up.
I don't want to keep skipping events, as it hurts my player in the game. I want to play the PGA Tour mode from start to finish, and not be stuck as a hack or amateur.

How do I get rid of this course for good? Deleting it from the above-listed filepath isn't working. TIA...

Update: after doing some more research tonight, I found a list of courses (;the ones I have installed so far in my game) in this location: C:\Users\stv\Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses

In this folder are five folders: Ability, Career, Courses, Golfball and Save.

In the Courses folder, I found a list of 20 codes. 20 codes to match 20 courses I have in the game itself so far. I had 18, installed two more tonight, so that seems OK.

How can I tell which course this is, by looking at a code? For example:
{OD5E5F1D-4C85-4B6F-A669-OA19402DA719}.sta 6/6/2007 6:28 AM STA File 1kb.
Im assuming this is one of the default courses, and checking Properties doesnt tell me anything about it.
Is there something I can use to open a STA file?

This course in question shouldnt be listed in these codes, being I deleted it, right?
Am I going in the right direction here? Im at wits end on this. Im not coming close to figuring why this deleted course is still there in the PGA Tour rotation. Im starting to think that the answer lies in a hidden file somewhere, or it lies in the registry.

Maybe the only way to fix this is to reinstall the deleted course I dont want. Or do a complete uninstall/reinstall of the game itself.

that one is pebble beach - can find those in your windows registry
if you are not fairly PC converdsant, please do not edit, delete, or alter registry entries

installed courses are located here in win7:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Sports\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Courses

you said you deleted the course in question from the above location???

did you uninstall the course using twcaddie or another installer??
if not, then the registry entries are still there and will appear in the game, however you cannot play the course since you deleted the course files

always use an installer to install from a zip file
and to remove a course from the game

as far as i remember .STA files are simply remembered course played files - ie reference files
i have some as old as 2007 in my list, and more entries than i have courses installed

i deleted the {OD5E5F1D-4C85-4B6F-A669-OA19402DA719}.sta file

opened TW, played one shot at pebble beach
and the file recreated itself

so do what you want with those files, they have nothing to do with gameplay IMO
you could move them to a subfolder to see yourself
if necessary, move them back

suggest you reinstall the course you did not like, then uninstall it using twcaddie

Also if you delete a course (;manually) from C/program files/EA Sports/ Tiger Woods / courses, it could still show in the TW Caddie as installed !
Always delete with the TW Caddie and follow JBCalg instructions above.
Thing is as well if your starting a career those Hack Players:(;
Dale Deputy, Jason Fischer, Jason Howard and so on are slow and boring, to speed em up a bit hit the Esc Key just after they hit Shot.
Or for a better challenge and avoid them Hacks, create new Player chose Pro in the set-up, then Enter straight into the Fedex Cup where the bigger money is.
!Doing this though your Attributes will never get to 100%, but the 75% Chosing Pro gives you is good enough for on-line play, plus you get $100,000 to spend :)
Don`t forget to do the Confidence folder edit it speeds up the game here on this link

The deletion I did in the Courses folder was after I used the caddie to uninstall the first time, rerunning the game, and it was still there. I should have posted my OP here right after that incident, and should have never touched that Courses folder, because now something is messed up. JBs suggestion should have worked.

For kicks, I went ahead and did the uninstall/reinstall process all over, using the caddie. I also had the caddie remove any files associated with it, as per the owners manual -I dont recall doing that with the first uninstall attempt. Still the same results.

By Googling registry entries for TW08 and closely worded searches to that, many of the site suggestions all come back to here at this site. And reading what has been said by yourselves and others, its way over my head unfortunately. Im not gonna mess with the reg. I would do so if I knew exactly what to delete, but Im not experimenting with it blindly. Ill just do a total uninstall if it comes down to that.

Its just something I want to be able to do in the future, delete a course if I hate it, and it doesnt seem possible now. If I hate a course, Im stuck with it. I dont remember this task being this hard to do in the old days.

What surprised me the most is that the PGA Tour in the game is stuck on using this course, and it wont go to any of the others. I could deal with it if it was part of a rotation, which I always thought there was a rotation if I remember right. Thats why I skipped ahead two+ years in PGA Tour mode, hoping it would change it and go to another one. It wont.

I really didnt mind the course in question, it is well done and fun to play be me, but as said above by Argon, the hacks cant play it. The hacks play it stupid with no common sense, and 9 holes lasts well over an hour with just me and the hack. Boring and painful to watch for me.
Going FedEx mode at 75%, I didnt want to do that. The pros will go at you with 100%, while youre stuck at 75%. I dont do online play, so I cant see myself handicapping myself permanently like that. I might have to consider that option though, if I keep getting frustrated and bored with ever-so-painfully-slow PGA Tour mode play with the hacks.

For now, I will just reinstall the course, and hope that one day that PGA Tour thing will change to a new course (;it also gets boring quick playing the same course over and over).
Im thinking it wont, because if it goes by alphabetical listing, Im in trouble.

Thanks for the help and all the suggestions JB and Argon.
Im sorry to have had make you guys go through all of this.

It does not matter if you name The course in question i have deleted loads of them.
I just created a new Player starting from scratch Amatuer / Home Course TPC Sawgrass, now when i went to start the Tour the first round against a Hack player Jon Leslie :(; the course chosen was Annandle GC 2010 , now thats not easy to play with a new player who only hits 235 yards, with a Driver.
[Added Edit on the 2nd round with this new player the course chosen again was Annandle GC 2010 , now! even with a Power Shot i could not reach the Fairway on 1 hole on the course.]

If you want to start completely new , i would delete all Custom courses with the TW Caddie, delete all the files in My Documents / Tiger Woods Tour 2008 / Courses.
Go to C/program files/ EA Sports / Tiger Woods 08/ courses and make sure all Custom courses are deleted.

You should be playing from scratch on Stock courses Really
East Lake, Doral , Cog Hill, Westchester, TPC Sawgrass,TPC Boston,Ocean course Kiwiah Island,The National Moonah, The K Club, Riviera, Pebble Beach, St Andrews, Harbour Town, Firestone.
The only time you need to go in the Registry is if you want to retrive your CD code / Key , or edit the Registry to make the Course Architect work in Win 7.

You could uninstall completely and start again, but! i would save the player you created if the player has some or lots of Attributes, the main 2 files for the player are in My documents/ Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008/Career/Players .
In there you see 2 files the Player folder and a PLR file, copy and save both to desktop
Then go back to that main folder you see Ability , in there find the players cal.hal. and aia. files, copy to desktop , remember where to put back on reinstall of the game.
Failing all else down load one of my players from Utilities / Custom players , Severiano Ballesteros < :) has $Millions and hits a seriously long way in In Game Tours :)
