hi
i am up to the sixth hole on my course
i make some changes and additions and save, so far everything is good
i make some more changes or smooth , say green elevation, or make a hill and every time i do that now the surrounding area, rough , goes a light green and all my hills and elevations dissapear,.
so i go back to the previous saved course, open it everything is ok, but each time i start to make any change it does the same thing again, so i cant go any further.
thanks |

Have you optimized? The CA does not like any single texture that is over 65,000 points. In Tools there is a points count indicator, with a sliding scale, which will show you the points count of your shapes. It could be that your main background texture is over that 65,000 limit. Have you repaired the course? Hope this helps, let us know how you get on, it is useful to know if these suggestions work. |

To use Optimize detail as Jim mentioned in previous post:
Right click the texture on your plot, and choose: optimize detail Don t optimize too much. Set slider to max 25 % to start with. |

well done mate
youve done it again, great help
my background is now 41000, it wasnt much higher, but i did what you said and optimized, what i have done and smoothed as well. and thats done the trick.
i have done six holes, i have a few rolling hills and background is up to 40,942, so how am i going to keep it under 65000 with only six holes done.
just want to say thanks again Jimbo for your help, appreciate it very much

sjm, if you draw a temporary buffer shape around the hole you are working on, then when your all done with that hole, simply optimize the temp buffer shape on the 2nd or 3rd notch a couple of times, then delete the temp buffer shape.. this will prevent all those points that you get while working on the hole, from going into the main plot, thus you don't have to optimize your main plot much at all.. I usually only have to optimizs my main plot a couple of times during and 18 hole course and then, I only optimize on 1st or 2nd notch.. My courses usually end up around 30,000 points for 18 holes or close to that... Remember, temporary buffer shapes are your friend..
